AcerPure Pro P2 Review: Air Purification Made Easy

AcerPure Pro P2 Review

This is the AcerPure Pro P2, the company’s latest entry of Air Purifier in its AcerPure lineup of home appliances. Not to be mistaken with the AcerPure Cool 2-in-1, this is purely an air purifier without the air circulation feature. Visually, the AcerPure Pro P2 looks competent, but is it really? Let’s find out what it has to offer and how it performs. But before that, let’s get into the spec sheet.

Design

AcerPure Pro P2

In terms of design, the AcerPure Pro P2 looks minimalist enough that it could fit into any living space without standing out too much. It’s clad in white, and has a spherical tower shape. On the top, that’s where you’ll find the air output vents and a mini LCD display that displays real-time air quality status. Wrapping around the body of the air purifier are these perforated holes, which allows for air to be drawn in for purification. Looking around the back, that’s where you’ll find the power port, the PM1.0 sensor, as well as the slot where the 4-in-1 HEPA filter is stored.

Apart from that, the AcerPure Pro P2 comes with a mini sized remote control that is also in white. It has all the basic controls you’ll need to control the air purifier’s functions. If remotes aren’t your thing, you can always install (recommended) the acerpure Life app for additional information on the device, as well as settings tweaking, firmware updates, and more.

User Experience

AcerPure Pro P2

Setting up the AcerPure Pro P2 was rather easy. All I needed to do was take it out of the box, remove the plastic wrappings on the HEPA filter, put it back into the device, and turn it on. The cover on the back is attached on magnetically so it’s real easy to remove, and the HEPA filter also has a pull tab for you to easily take it out and replace when the time for replacement comes. It fits perfectly in there, so when you push in/out, it has this nice, satisfying feeling (guilty pleasure of mine).

At this point, it’s already fully functioning as an air purifier, but should you wish to have detailed information and more control over the purifier, you can install the acerpure Life app.

The acerpure Life app has allowed me to perform firmware updates, monitor air quality in real-time (without getting up and looking at the mini LCD display, and also receive notifications for air pollution. The app now also supports Google Home integration, so it was rather easy for me to add it to my smart home arsenal, and control it using automation from just one app. With the app, I could also set schedules on when the AcerPure Pro P2 should operate and when it should be turned off for electricity saving purposes.

I’ve been using the AcerPure Pro P2 for a couple of weeks now, and in two different locations – my own home, and a confinement centre. Regardless of the location, the purifier worked flawlessly in keeping the air in the room and the atmosphere clean. The remote control is quite small for my hands, so don’t get me wrong, the remote works just fine, but just not for my hands.

The smart sensor detect real-time air quality and gas levels in the room, which also allows it to automatically adjust the purifying process speed. The colour of the LCD display shows you how well is the air quality in the room:

  • Green – Good
  • Yellow – Medium
  • Red – Poor

The LCD display’s size is okay for this purifier, but the only gripe I had with it is that the display is placed on the top, facing upwards. This makes it hard to see from afar, especially when you’re sitting down on a sofa. It would’ve been better if Acer positioned the LCD display right in front, below the acerpure logo. The touch buttons are responsive, and their positioning is okay, so no complaints there. There’s the on/off button, breeze control, and timing control.

Performance

AcerPure Pro P2

The AcerPure Pro P2 works fine for all the environments we’ve tested it in – living room and master bedroom. Its Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) has a 324 CHM rating, and it’s running on a DC motor. This allows it to provide high quality air circulation at minimal cost. With its 4-in-1 HEPA filter, it offers four layers of protection – pre-filter to remove pet hair and dander, HEPA Plus+ filter removing bacteria, anti-coronavirus, influenza A virus activity. Next, there’s the HEPA 13 main filter that works to remove PM1.0 and 99.97% particles down to 0.3 microns. And lastly, there’s the activated carbon filter to remove gases and odours.

AcerPure Pro P2

The AcerPure Pro P2 was able to collect up quite a bit of pet hair, keeping them off of the floors. We also tried vaping in the living room, and it immediately detects it and starts the purification. You can hear the fans start kicking in, and in about 1 minute, the air quality is back down to less than 10 (the lower, the better). Vaping can bring it up to around 500+. Of course, you can control the intensity of the cleaning, or you can just put it on Auto mode and it’ll adjust accordingly to the air quality in the room.

In terms of noise level, it only gets a bit noisy when purification is in progress. Apart from that, you won’t even know it’s turned on. But rest assured, it is on and there is a breeze coming out of the vents on the top.

Maintenance

AcerPure Pro P2

For software, maintenance can be done on the acerpure Life app through firmware updates. For hardware, the only major maintenance is the change of the HEPA filter. Each filter has a fixed amount of life, so be sure to check it in the app, and replace it when the time comes. Apart from that, just give the air purifier a good wipe down, and try vacuuming the air vents too, especially if you have pets at home.

Conclusion

AcerPure Pro P2

The AcerPure Pro P2 offers great features for those who are looking for an air purifier for their home. It’s a decent size, has a high CADR to quickly purify the air in the room, uses HEPA 13 filter, and has an app that is compatible with Google Home (coming soon). It can cover up to 45 square meters which is rather big, and its matte white finish is sure to fit nicely into any living space you throw it in.

Sure, there are a few things I would change with the AcerPure Pro P2 like the LCD display’s position, but that’s not really a dealbreaker. For RM1,099, the AcerPure Pro P2 has great build quality and would be a nice addition to your home, especially if you have a newborn child, or children at home.

From now till 31st May, every purchase of the AcerPure Pro P2 entitles you to receive an additional HEPA 13 filter for free, as well as a RM100 TouchnGo voucher. That’s an extra year of not needing to worry about filters, and some money to go for a nice meal. Treat yourself!
