Design

Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G Smartphone Review: Flagship Camera Performance, Not So Midrange Price 5

The Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G’s design is, to put it lightly, subdued. The Malaysian market only gets two colour options – Silvery Grey and Glossy Purple. Unlike the other lifestyle oriented smartphones in this segment, it looks more understated, yet functional.

At the back, you get a metallic finish, with the camera housing located at the top left. The power button and volume rockers are located at the right side. The bottom houses the SIM tray, charging port and the right channel speaker, while the left channel speaker is located at the top.

At the front, you are greeted by a large 6.74″ display that is curved at the edges. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the very bottom of the display, which could be a tad troublesome for some.

Despite how it looks, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G has some heft to it and is a bit top heavy. Fortunately, the slight curve at the edge of the screen allows for a more comfortable grip.

Display

The 6.74 inch display on the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G has a resolution of 1240 x 2772 pixels, resulting in a density of 451 ppi. It is sufficiently sharp, coming at between FHD+ and QHD+ resolution, and there is no discernable difference when compared to QHD+ in most cases.

It can display bright and vivid colours, and sunlight legibility is excellent as well thanks to its 1,400 nits peak brightness. While 120Hz refresh rates are pretty standard at this point, it does allow for smooth and fluid visuals.

Audio

The Reno10 Pro+ 5G boasts side firing stereo speakers (in landscape orientation). While volume performance is decent, the audio quality is just so-so. While there is a decent midrange response, the treble sounds muffled and the mid-bass extension is just okay.

Camera

The Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G boasts a triple camera setup – a 50 megapixel main camera, a 64 megapixel telephoto portrait, and an 8 megapixel ultrawide. Of the trio, only the ultrawide camera lacks autofocus and OIS.

The main camera takes pleasant photos in auto mode, with great amounts of detail and excellent colour reproduction. The telephoto portrait camera is great a compressing the background for a more aesthetic result, however you might have to be further away from your subjects to fit them inside the frame. The ultrawide is handy, but nothing stellar.

In low light, the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G still retains a lot of the finer details, while keeping noise under control.

Performance

Benchmarks

Geekbench 6CPU Single Core – 1,423
CPU Multi-Core – 4,027
GPU – 5,935

PCMark Work 3.011,150

Despite its age, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset is still quite capable. In terms of real world performance, it feels snappy even with multiple apps open at the same time.

Gaming

The Adreno 730 can easily handle most mobile titles in high or with maxed out settings. On Genshin Impact, it consistently hit above 50 fps at the highest settings; and it can run MLBB and PUBG Mobile at high frame rates without issues.

Battery Life

The Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery. It can easily last the whole day with moderate use, though it comes short of getting past the next afternoon without having to recharge. It does have 100W fast charging, allowing users to charge the device to full within 30 minutes.

Final Verdict

Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G Smartphone Review: Flagship Camera Performance, Not So Midrange Price 19

3.5 / 5The Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G has a capable camera offering and a powerful chipset, but the pricing hurts its appeal somewhat.

As with past Reno Series smartphones, the Oppo Reno10 Pro+ 5G offers users a capable camera package that can go toe to toe with some flagships. However, it does come with a cost, RM3,499 to be exact. Not only does this comes close to some of the more affordable flagships, it is significantly more expensive than other midrange camera phones in the market.

That being said, you do get a powerful chipset that delivers great performance on top of the potent camera, and if you want a midranger without compromise, this is the one for you.
