YAMUNANAGAR: The third victim of recent shooting outside a gym by gangsters in Kheri Lakha Singh town in Radaur area of Yamunanagar district, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in SAS Nagar in the afternoon on Sunday.
Arjun Rana of Unheri village in Yamunanagar district, was seriously injured in the shooting on December 26. Two more persons Virender Rana (32) of Golni village in Yamunanagar district and Pankaj Malik (37) of Baraut, Uttar Pradesh, had died on the spot in this shooting. Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility for these murders via a viral post on Facebook. The Yamunanagar police are yet to verify the claims made by the Bishnoi gang, as its investigation is still ongoing.
During the shooting, Arjun managed to run into a nearby hospital. However, after killing Virender and Pankaj, the shooters had chased him into the hospital and shot at him multiple times. Arjun was rushed to a private hospital in Yamunanagar, from where he was referred for further treatment to a hospital in Chandigarh while Virender and Pankaj were declared dead.
Radaur DSP Ashish Chaudhary said, “We received the information about the death of Arjun Rana in the afternoon. He was undergoing treatment (of bullet injuries that he sustained in the shooting), but could not survive.”
So far, the Yamunanagar police have made arrests of two residents of the district in this case including Arbaj of Tajewala village and Sachin Handa of Chhachhrauli, who are undergoing police remand till January 2. The police have not disclosed any information about the association of the arrested accused persons with the Bishnoi gang or with any other.
Haryana cabinet minister Shyam Singh Rana, who is MLA from Radaur, had asked the district police to take responsibility for failing to avert this crime and maintaining peace, as the crime took place just about 100 meters away from Kheri Lakha Singh police post. Subsequently, Yamunanagar SP Rajeev Deswal suspended eight cops posted at this police post including the in-charge. Four teams of Yamunanagar police are working to crack this case and on the linkages with the involved gangsters known for organised crime.
