Delhi Police’s special cell recently got bigger with police stumbling upon another consignment of the drugs worth Rs 2,400 crore during a raid in west Delhi.

Cocaine haul: Police hunt for distributorsWith the latest seizure in west Delhi, cops have managed to make an unprecedented recovery of Colombian cocaine to the tune of around 9,000 crore till now. This is the biggest recovery of the drug by any unit in the country. Earlier, the cops had seized 562kg of cocaine worth over Rs 6,500 crore. The value of a kg of the drug in the international market is around Rs 12 crore.
The latest breakthrough came following interrogation of arrested suspects and analysis of their mobile devices, chats on Threema app and other technical surveillance. Sources said that the second consignment was being handled by a suspect named Savinder Singh, a UK national. The earlier consignment was being handled by a UK resident named Jatinder Pal Singh aka Jassi. Jassi, cops said, had also come to India from the UK to supervise the sale of cocaine.
Both Savinder and Jassi were to coordinate with Delhibased kingpin, Tushar Goyal, also arrested in the case. Cops have opened a look out circular against Savinder, who is learnt to have flown to London soon after the racket was busted.
According to Pramod Kushwaha, additional CP of special cell, the Dubai-based entity, Veeru alias Virender Basoiya, was coordinating the delivery of this drug consignment along with two other foreign-based players. “As the latest consignment was massive, Veeru had asked the two UK counterparts to go to Delhi and handle the affairs smoothly with help from Goyal,” Kushwaha said, adding that both UK residents likely didn’t know each other.
Cops are hunting for the distributors who were to pick up the consignment from the UK nationals. Some big names from entertainment industry are suspected to be involved.
The cocaine had been stocked up by the cartel to be supplied at upcoming concerts and music festivals in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa, sources said.
The racket was busted after cops started working on a tipoff received from a central intelligence agency in Aug. “On Oct 1, the team received specific information about the arrival of a large consignment of drugs at a godown owned by Goyal in Mahipalpur, south Delhi. Subsequently, a massive haul of cocaine and hydroponic marijuana was seized from the possession of accused persons and the godown,” special CP Upadhyaya said.
