At GU, Japanese language course makes comeback

Panaji: The School of International and Area Studies (SIAS), Goa University, will once again offer a certificate course of proficiency in Japanese language for the academic year 2024-25.
The level 1 course will be open to any student who has completed Class XII, whereas the level 2 course will be available to any person who has a level 1 certificate.
Applications will be accepted only in the online mode, the School has said. The fees for each of the courses is Rs 9,385.
Classes for both courses will begin from Jan 13 next year and duration of each course will be 26 weeks. Students will be required to complete 130 hours.
The last date to apply for the course is Dec 31.
The course can be of interest to those planning to visit Japan for higher studies, travel or business, or for those looking to work in Japanese companies. It is also for those who want to develop an understanding of Japanese culture or who may want to take up Japanese language teaching as a career.
This course at Goa University is possibly the only one on offer in the state.
