Sasikumar and Simran will be teaming up for the first time in a family drama helmed by debutant Abishan Jeevinth. When we spoke to the director, he described the yet-to-be-titled film as a feelgood, city-based entertainer.
“It will focus on a family and especially the importance of bonding with the neighbourhood,” Abishan says, adding, “The core message we explore in the film is ‘Do good and good will come to you’.
The film also highlights the importance of caring for our parents in their old age, just as they took care of us when we were young.”
The director informs us that we will see a more lighthearted side of Sasikumar in the film. “We are accustomed to seeing him in rural-based films, but in this film, we will see him in a different light, playing a 50-year-old family man with two kids,” he reveals.
He touches upon the importance of casting actors who are authentic to film’s characters. Delving into Simran’s casting as a mother, he says, “When portraying a mother, the character needs to feel authentic in terms of age, appearance, and personality. Her character has a comedic flavour, blending innocence and emotional depth, like her role in Panchatanthiram.”
