As the winter winds enter the home, so does the chill and freeze for which people take out the heaters and insulators. But as more and more studies come out about the side-effects of using electric heaters, here are some natural ways to keep the home warm.

Let the sunlight in! Every morning when the sun shines, make sure to open all the windows and curtains so that you can have as much natural light as possible. Open the windows for sunlight around 11-12 AM, and close them by 3-4 PM to prevent any winter winds.

Before the chilly winds begin, make sure you check and seal any small holes in the doors and the windows. This will ensure that the chilly winds don’t enter your home, especially during the peak hours.

People often fall sick in the winter and primarily because the cold enters their body from the feet. They wear all kinds of jackets and mufflers but forget to wear socks or slippers indoors. So, add in a rug or carpet on the floor to protect the feet.

Swap out thin bed linens and sofa covers for materials like wool, flannel, or fleece, which are better at trapping heat. Use old, worn-out blankets as bedsheets to remain warm at night.

The little space between the floor and the doors also lets in a ton of chilly winds, so to make sure no winter wind escapes, use old clothes and fabric to seal in those gaps.

Use candles or warm-toned light bulbs to create a comforting atmosphere at home. While the bright, cool lights look better during the summers, the warm glow of lights in winter is much more cosy.

Another excellent way to keep the room warm is by using thicker curtains. When thick curtains are used around the house, the wild does not enter in, and keeps the rooms naturally warm.

This is one of the most underrated tricks to keep the home warm. When you cook with stoves and gas during the winter, the heat of the cooking also spreads through the kitchen and the house.
