Randy Moss, the Pro Football Hall of Famer, has announced that he is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. During an emotional session on Instagram Live, Moss revealed that he had spent six days in the hospital being treated for bile duct cancer, which sits between his pancreas and liver. The procedure was a complex Whipple operation, and Moss stated: "A cancer survivor. And many thanks to my prayer warriors for holding me up." Earlier this month, Moss took some time away from his punditry work on ESPN to “focus on a personal health challenge.”
Vikings Star Justin Jefferson Honors Randy Moss with Emotional Tribute
The entire NFL community showered him with well wishes when the news broke. Among the tributes, perhaps the most sincere came from the Minnesota Vikings, the franchise where Moss carved a lasting legacy. As the team prepared to face their NFC North rivals Chicago on Monday night, it offered an exciting pregame ceremony to celebrate the legendary wide receiver.
Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson fired the first salvo in the praise-for-Moss acknowledgement, explicitly dazzling: "My dude made the most unbelievable catch in Moss-mode early in the first quarter. After launching into his Griddy celebration, Jefferson walked toward the camera and addressed it with a heartfelt message:
"We love you, Randy," Jefferson said, forming a heart with his hands. "That's for you."
Moss has always been praising Jefferson who recently eclipsed him as the NFL's all-time leading receiver in yards gained during the first five seasons. Such tribute served as a poignant reminder of how much those two generational talents have meant to one another, especially during this time of difficulty in Moss' life.
The Vikings didn’t stop there. Moss' former teammates Cris Carter and Jake Reed, two important pieces during his time in Minnesota, came out on the field wearing their old jerseys just before the game at U.S. Bank Stadium. They raised Moss' number 84 jersey in a pregame ceremony that touched fans and players alike. The franchise also beefed up that distinction by honoring Moss during the coin toss. Such monumental impact he had for the organization.
Moss, deeply moved by the tribute, took to Twitter to express his gratitude, writing: "LUV U ALL! #letsmosscancer."
