Originally set up to construct our own fleet vessels, Armona Denizcilik has now become the Ship Management arm of the Atlantis Tankers Group. Historically, Turkish Shipowners have been used to building ships on their own. While this had various reasons, changing partly over the decades, Armona adopted this philosophy for the benefits of cost saving, better quality control, individual selection of manufacturers and associated technical features and, last but not least, to involve ship management staff in the construction with the subsequent advantages of through-life management and maintenance. Located along the waters of the Bosporus the Ship Management team has not only access to one of the world's biggest airports, but is also only an hour's drive from the construction and repair shipyards. For the past thirty years, the oil and chemical industry have had vetting organizations to manage the risk of transportation. Today, through complex processes, these organizations determine whether an owner is ‘acceptable’ by evaluating the level of service offered and deciding if it meets their expectations/requirements. Over the years, Armona has become a ‘quality operator’ recognized by every vetting organization which screens us. More than one third of our business is conducted with the Super Majors. Our Tanker Management Self Assessment has fully satisfied the required degrees of compliance through numerous office audits set by oil companies and third parties. In addition, our Incident Profile, Inspection Results, Emergency Response Capability, Terminal Vessel Performance Reports, Safety & Environmental Management System and Port State Control records have been scrutinized and fulfill all requirements necessary for the distinction as a Quality Operator.

We’re pleased to have successfully completed “Internal Auditor ISM-ISPS-MLC” training last week for Armona Denizcilik A.Ş. Effective implementation and verification of a safety management system requires periodical internal audits. The approach to and scope of an audit differs widely from an inspection. The training provided participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, prepare, conduct and report on combined ISM, ISPS and MLC audits and verifications. This process is based on the requirements of ISO 19011:2018 Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems and was carried out step by step through the use of interactive group exercises. Thank you all the participants at Armona Denizcilik for their valuable contributions. Their trust is greatly appreciated. Last week, we participated in a 2-day Internal Auditor Training for ISM-ISPS-MLC Standards, attended by members of our Crewing, HSEQ and Technical team. The training, hosted by DNV Maritime and led by FERHAT ABUL, covered auditing practices aligned with ISM, ISPS codes and MLC regulations. The program focused on: ✅ Implementation & verification of Safety Management Systems (SMS) under the ISM Code. ✅ Internal audit protocols as per MSC-MEPC.7-Circ.8 and ISO 19011:2018 guidelines (planning, execution, root cause analysis). ✅ Role-play scenarios to refine communication and interview techniques during audits. ✅ Strategies for ISM/ISPS/MLC compliance, audit reporting, and corrective action plans. FERHAT ABUL, a maritime professional with industry experience, combined theoretical instruction with practical applications, emphasizing alignment of audit practices with current standards. The training addressed safety protocols, crew welfare under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), and compliance with DNV-classified operational requirements. On January 10th, 2025, Atlantis Tankers Group and Armona Denizcilik came together to reflect on the achievements of 2024 and kick off the new year with a spirit of optimism and gratitude.
