The University of Zurich (where also Einstein studied and became professor at) which is highly respected globally, has decided to stop participating in ranking systems. They believe that these rankings encourage universities to prioritize quantity over quality in research, leading to unnecessary and questionable publications and innovative ideas . Instead of focusing on meaningful scientific progress, some university staff may feel pressured to churn out papers and KPIIs just to boost the institution's reputation. The university sees this as a negative trend, turning education into a profit-driven business.
