Heute hat „Ernst“ Namenstag. Doch warum widmen wir ausgerechnet diesem Namen einen Post? Das liegt an dem Wissenschaftler Ernst Abbe, von dem sich unser Firmenname ableitet. Ernst Abbe wurde 1840 in Eisenach geboren, wo er in einfachen Verhältnissen aufwuchs. Später studierte er Mathematik, Physik, Astronomie und Philosophie in Jena und Göttingen. Im Zuge des Studiums formulierte Abbe die später nach ihm benannte lichtmikroskopische Auflösungsgrenze. Diese besaß bis ins 21. Jahrhundert hinein Gültigkeit, bevor abberiors Gründer Stefan Hell sie mit seinem Konzept der STED-Mikroskopie überwand. STED und weitere superauflösende Mikroskopie-Techniken wie MINFLUX sind der konventionellen, nur bis zum Abbe’schen Limit auflösenden Mikroskopie überlegen, auf Latein und Englisch: „superior“. A recent 2024 article in Scientific Reports by Songwei Lu, Yuejun (Eugene) Zhao, and Edward A. P. Hellerman explores the development of UV-durable hydrophobic coatings for self-cleaning cameras in autonomous vehicles. These coatings are essential for maintaining visibility in challenging conditions like heavy rain or bug splatter, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of autonomous vehicles. 🌟 Key Highlights: .The study employed AFM analysis to measure surface roughness, utilizing a Bruker Nano Surfaces & Metrology, Bruker Dimension Icon and RTESPA-150 probes. .The results showed promising advancements in creating durable and cost-effective hydrophobic surfaces. The AFM images below illustrate the surface roughness measurements for various glass and polycarbonate samples.
