🌍Norway Leads the Global EV Revolution ⚡🚗 In 2024, Norway achieved a remarkable milestone: nearly 90% of all new cars sold were fully electric, up from 82% in 2023. This places the country on the verge of its ambitious goal to sell only zero-emission cars by 2025. 🇳🇴 This achievement reflects Norway's "carrot and stick" approach: 1️⃣High taxes on petrol and diesel cars 2️⃣ Exemptions from import and VAT taxes for EVs (though some levies were reintroduced in 2023) Norway now leads the world in EV adoption, with 28.6% of cars on its roads being fully electric, surpassing petrol cars. As other nations aim for zero-emission targets (e.g., the EU’s 2035 ban on CO2-emitting cars), Norway offers a roadmap for success: combine incentives, long-term predictability, and public engagement. 🔋 The impact is visible across sectors. Fuel stations like Circle K are transitioning to electric chargers, anticipating that 50% of Norway’s cars will be electric within a few years. 💡 As the energy transition accelerates globally, Norway sets an inspiring precedent. How can other countries adopt such strategies to drive EV adoption and reduce carbon footprints? 🌱 #EnergyTransition #EVRevolution #Sustainability #ZeroEmissions #CleanEnergy #FutureOfTransport Source: https://lnkd.in/dun3tymj.

🌍 Global Electricity Cost and Sustainability: A Path Forward ⚡️ As the world strives for sustainability, electricity cost plays a pivotal role in determining how effectively we can transition to cleaner, renewable energy sources. This world map showcasing the average cost of 1 kWh across different nations offers insightful perspectives on the energy landscape. 💡 Key Insights: Countries like Kyrgyzstan and Libya enjoy the lowest electricity costs, potentially due to abundant local energy resources, while Micronesia and the Solomon Islands face some of the highest costs, which could be a challenge in reducing carbon footprints. Energy affordability impacts all sectors, from households to industries, especially when transitioning to sustainable energy solutions. The U.S. leads in affordability, while Germany stands out as a high-cost country, highlighting the need for optimized energy management. For a sustainable future, it's not just about producing renewable energy, but also ensuring that it's affordable and accessible to all. As energy costs vary, investments in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and smart grids will become crucial for reducing carbon emissions and fostering sustainable growth. #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #EnergyCosts #CleanEnergy #GlobalEnergy #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition #FutureOfEnergy

🌍 Mining for Energy Transition The mining industry continues to play a pivotal role in supplying critical materials for the global economy, particularly as we transition to cleaner energy systems. However, as the map of global investments in mining exploration reveals, the industry operates across diverse regions, each with its own environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges. While these investments drive resource availability for technologies like batteries, wind turbines, and solar panels, it’s imperative to integrate sustainability-focused practices into mining operations. #Sustainability #Mining #ESG #EnergyTransition #Innovation

Current Gas Balance in China: 🇨🇳 China’s gas production dipped m/m but was still higher than 2023 levels, while imports rose strongly. Maintenance on the Power of Siberia 1 pipeline limited the gains in September, but LNG imports surged. October pipeline flows are set to rise, with Gazprom expecting to meet its 38 bcma contractual obligation by December. 🇷🇺 Russian pipeline volumes have reached 26 bcm in the year-to-September. Meeting the 38 bcm target would mean very high flows in Q4, weighing on LNG imports. But that also suggests that LNG imports will cover much of China’s incremental demand in 2025, with 4-5 Mt of new LNG supply agreements taking effect. #EnergyTransition #GlobalEconomy #Geopolitics #EconomicGrowth #EnergyPolicy #OilAndGas #LNG Source: https://lnkd.in/eSsii7PR

🌍 Focus on the Demand Side for the Hydrogen Future🌱 The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) has outlined crucial policy recommendations to unlock the demand for clean hydrogen—a versatile, low-carbon energy carrier critical to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like refining, chemicals, aviation, and heavy-duty transportation. 🧪 While clean hydrogen holds immense potential to replace emissions-intensive fuels, barriers such as cost, infrastructure, and regulatory uncertainty slow its adoption. The demand side plays a vital role in scaling clean hydrogen by driving market adoption and ensuring the economic viability of this transformative energy solution. Without robust demand, investments in clean hydrogen production, transportation, and storage will struggle to achieve the scale necessary for cost competitiveness. Key barriers—such as the cost differential with gray hydrogen, lack of infrastructure, and limited end-use applications—must be addressed to create strong market signals that attract private sector participation. Policies like demand-side funding, updated fuel standards, and carbon pricing can provide the stability and incentives needed to foster widespread adoption. By creating a predictable and supportive demand landscape, clean hydrogen can become a critical tool for decarbonizing sectors that are difficult to electrify, helping achieve climate goals while stimulating innovation and economic growth. #Hydrogen #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction #Decarbonization #Innovation #NetZero #Policy Source: https://lnkd.in/dXyF-rYu
