Seven years ago, Abu Youssef and his family fled their home in southern Maarat al-Numan countryside to the village of Al-Faririya in Afrin, escaping the horrors of war. Today, he lives with his wife, seven children, a mentally disabled brother, and the orphans of his late brother. Despite the harsh circumstances, he struggles daily to provide for his family, relying on collecting nylon for heating and selling what remains to buy food. ✨ Recently, Bahar Organization stepped in to assess the village’s conditions, and Abu Youssef was one of the beneficiaries. One of the key components of the nutrition Program at Bahar Organization is the Stabilization Care Centers dedicated to treating children suffering from malnutrition with medical complications. Bahar Organization operates two Stabilization Care Centers: one in Afrin city and the other in Ariha. These centers receive referrals from our nutrition mobile teams operating in surrounding areas, villages, and sub-districts as well as from other humanitarian organizations working in the nutrition sector, including referrals from areas such as Azaz and Atmeh. Regard Ariha center is particularly significant as it serves a wide area, including Jisr Al-Shughur, due to the closure of nearby treatment centers, such as those in Kafr Takharim and Ain Al-Bayda. Bahar’s stabilization centers are standalone buildings within the campus of children’s and women’s hospitals, dedicated entirely to treating children with malnutrition and medical complications. They provide all necessary services for both the child and the mother during the recovery period before transitioning the child to an outpatient malnutrition treatment program. The centers are staffed with a qualified medical team available 24/7, including a doctor, nurses, and a nutrition specialist who ensure that children receive the required medical and nutritional care around the clock. In alignment with the latest strategies of the Nutrition Cluster and the WHO, our current focus extends beyond treatment to include malnutrition prevention. In our current project, we have introduced new activities such as the MAMI approach, which targets children under six months of age and provides psychological support to mothers. This has resulted in notable successes, helping mothers regain the ability to produce breast milk. Additionally, we have incorporated a Cash Voucher Assistance (CVA) activity for pregnant and lactating women at risk of malnutrition. In Al-Rahmaniyah village, part of Maabatli, Mandoh Azzo Al-Abdullah lived with his family of five children, facing a relentless water crisis. For years, water was scarce and unreliable. At times, Mandoh had to wait days to secure a water truck, costing between 300 to 400 SYP—an expense that weighed heavily on his family’s limited budget. With a daily income of only 200 to 300 SYP, nearly half was spent on water, leaving little for other basic needs and making daily life an uphill battle. ✨ But hope was restored when Bahar Organization built a new water tank in the village, ensuring a steady and reliable water supply. This initiative has significantly reduced costs and eased the burden on families, bringing much-needed peace of mind to the community. 🔹 Mandoh shared, "I can now work knowing my family no longer suffers from water shortages.
