  • Happy New Year to all BOETT Registered Engineering in Trinidad and Tobago! Happy New Year!   As we welcome the dawn of a new year, the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago would like to extend warmest wishes to each of our Registered Engineers and their families for a prosperous, healthy, and joyful 2025. The past year has brought challenges, both for the engineering community and in particular the BOETT which continues to pursue important revisions to the Engineering Profession Act that governs the regulation of the practice of engineering in Trinidad and Tobago. However, it has also presented us with some opportunities for growth and innovation as well, whereby the Board has been able to upgrade its Website, introduce a new data-base platform that allows registrants to update their profiles and pay their annual License Fees among other things. The Board has also maintained an active social media presence on its LinkedIn Page and which has achieved a high level of engagement during the year. Some of these social media postings included feature interviews of engineers in various capacities and at various levels. In that regard we have placed emphasis on recognizing and celebrating the achievements of young engineers by providing a platform for them to share their professional milestones, projects they've contributed to, and significant achievements they've accomplished in their careers thus far.  As engineers, you have continued to rise to these challenges, demonstrating resilience, creativity, and unwavering dedication to the progress of Trinidad and Tobago. Your work has not only advanced our infrastructure and industries but has also contributed to the betterment of our society as a whole. As we step into 2025, let this be a year where we continue to push boundaries, embrace sustainable practices, and foster innovation that will benefit future generations. The world is changing rapidly, and with your skills and leadership, we have no doubt that you will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping a brighter future for our nation. May this new year be filled with new opportunities, successful projects, and continued growth for you both personally and professionally. Together, let us make 2025 a year of significant achievements and lasting impact. Vaughn I. Lezama, R. Eng., Registrar/Secretary BOETT

  • Holiday Greeting and Best Wishes from the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago On behalf of the Board or Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT), I wish to extend warmth and best wishes to the engineering community this holiday season. At this traditional time of joyous celebration, we would like to express our appreciation to those Engineers who continue to maintain their Registration status with the BOETT and others who continue to follow us through our Website and social media platforms, LinkedIn and Facebook. Our community of Registered Engineers is united by our commitment to ethical and competent engineering practice and the paramountcy of public health and safety. By our commitment through continued professional development to enhance our engineering proficiency and competency, Registered Engineers are best positioned to be leaders in the process of national development. Following the earlier upgrade of the BOETT Website, in 2024 we launched a new platform which allows each Registered Engineer to have and maintain a unique personal profile and be able to make online payment for renewal of Practice Fees among other things. In that regard the Board continues in its efforts to optimize the facility of this platform to bring greater benefit to our registrants. As we enter a new year, we look forward to our individual and collective impact in building a stronger community of Professional Engineers committed to the development of professional and ethical engineering practice. Together, we can foster a better understanding and appreciation of the important role of engineers in our society. As we look to 2025, we are hopeful that the long-awaited revision to the Engineering Profession Act will become a reality in keeping with the call by the engineering community for an amendment of the Engineering Profession Act to provide for a level of mandatory registration of professional engineers. We sincerely wish all our Registered Engineers and others who follow the Board’s LinkedIn Page a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year! Vaughn I. Lezama, R. Eng.  - Registrar/Secretary – BOETT

  • Verifying of authenticity of Engineers’ Stamp on drawings submitted on the Develop TT platform – for Building Application: An Open Letter to the Building Departments of the City and Regional Corporations It has come to the attention of the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT) that there are persons who represent themselves as Registered Engineers with BOETT by way of their use of a BOETT Issued Registration Stamp on Building Application drawings submitted for statutory approvals. Many such persons who may indeed be practicing engineers, and at one time may have been registered with the Board of Engineering, have for one reason or the other been delisted from the Register of Engineers of the BOETT. Any engineer who is delisted from the BOETT's Register of Engineers is therefore not authorized to use a BOETT issued Stamp for certification of any document whatsoever. Such action amounts to that Engineer purporting to be a Registered Engineer when in fact he is not. A misrepresentation of this kind is an offence under the Engineering Profession Act No. 34 of 1985, and which offence can be prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecution if and when reported by the BOETT. Accordingly, the BOETT wishes to advise the Building Departments of the City and Regional Corporations that some caution should be taken to verify the BOETT registration status of Engineers who certify documents submitted to the Building Departments of the various Corporations. The BOETT registration status of engineers is, by legislation, public information. Such verification can be obtained by a search on the BOETT Website (boett.org) or by calling the BOETT’s Office at Phone Nos. 625-4655; 6243-0040.
