Will & Grace‘s final season just became a community effort. Joel McHale will appear in two upcoming episodes of the NBC comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively, as a potential suitor for none other than Ms. Karen Walker.
McHale’s character, Phil, is described as “handsome and charming,” qualities he’ll undoubtedly use to sweep Karen off of her feet. But wait, there’s a twist! “Will and Grace are convinced that [Phil] has a darker side and ulterior motives, but Karen is too much in love to see it.”
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until midseason 2020 to find out if Phil has what it takes to become Karen’s fifth husband… or if he’s merely doomed to join the likes of Malcolm and Lionel on Karen’s long list of lovers.
McHale joins a group of previously announced guest stars for Will & Grace‘s upcoming final season, including Demi Lovato (Glee) as a “guarded” young woman named Jenny who enters Will’s life in an “unexpected way,” and Billie Lourd (American Horror Story) as Fiona Adler, one of Grace’s nieces. (Lourd, of course, is the real-life granddaughter of the late Debbie Reynolds, who recurred throughout the original series as Grace’s mother.)
Your thoughts on McHale’s casting? Hopes for the show’s final season? Whatever’s on your mind, drop it in a comment below.
Joel has already been on Will & Grace (in the original run) as (Frankenst)Ian, a date of Grace’s who she went to Seussical the Musical with.
Yup and they’ve done it at least once before in the revival. The actor who played one Will’s friend’s Steve who appeared in a handful of episodes in the original run had a small cameo as a different character. That’s one of the biggest pet peeves I’ve had with the revival, the casting and recasting choices.
Love Joel, Sean, Eric and Deb. Haven’t been watching because I can’t stand Megan. May tune in for Joel’s ep[s].
Funny. I can’t watch because ‘Deb’ is an awful actor and even worse human.
Right? All these people disagreeing with the President! So un-American! Opinions are so stupid! Unless you agree with them in which case they’re perfect and right.
Will Smitty be gracing is with his presence this season?
What’s going to be really sad is that they will have had 3 seasons of the revival and not even one small Cher cameo. The revival doesn’t seem to remember where it came from. I’m kinda still glad it happened but some of the casting, recasting, and plot points have really been off.
Now I have to watch W&G again. I love Joel McHale, and will watch him in anything. I started watching the revival, but I liked Grace with Leo, so it seemed much like a revisionist history, jumping on the revival bandwagon. But now Joel is in it.
He already dated Grace on season 3 when he played a married man and went with her to see Seussicall the musical
Joel is hilarious. Can’t wait for the laughs. Wish it wasn’t the end tho.
I just saw the episode and as a digital artist… boy did they do their best to make it look like Debra and Megan were in the same room. They masked/rotoscoped, did the scenes twice, and used body doubles. Looks like the feud is real.
