Is it finally time for 9-1-1‘s Buck to begin? Is Walker‘s gain a Grey’s doctor’s loss? Is someone checking out of New Amsterdam? Read on for answers to those questions plus teases from other shows!
Is there anything you can tell us about 9-1-1‘s Buck? –Sarah
And how! When the Fox hit’s fourth season opens on Jan. 18, 2021, the time will be… September of 2020, and Maddie is five months along in her pregnancy — and Buck will have a new woman in his life. Then as the season progresses, we will learn that Maddie is keeping a secret from Buck, about their childhood, and that will tee up a “Buck Begins” episode.
Do you have any scoop on SEAL Team‘s two-hour premiere? I heard there is a character leaving the show? –Daisy
Having now seen the extremely eventful, action-packed and at times distressing season opener, let me just tell you that this preview headline I wrote tells zero lies. (The first hour alone is one of those “Oh, have I not taken a breath for 40 minutes?” type of nail biters.) A lot goes down with Bravo Team this Wednesday night, including at least one reveal I did not see coming. P.S. If you haven’t gotten wind of who plays Bravo 1 in Jason’s 13-years-ago flashbacks, you’ll be like, “Well of course that’s who’s playing him!”
Anything on All Rise? –Amy
Among others that we have already seen, Sherri (played by Ruthie Ann Miles) “is [a character] that goes through a transformation” in Season 2, co-showrunner Dee Harris-Lawrence tells TVLine. “People are going to be surprised by Sherri’s storyline, because I think in the beginning, they’re going to be wondering what is happening with her and [Detective] Harris, and we will answer that question. But she is also going to be going on her own enlightened journey as she goes through this season.”
Any news on the upcoming season of New Amsterdam? –Brooke
Whoops, did I not pass this along…? In addition to teasing Helen’s upcoming arc, executive producer David Schulner also shared this juicy tidbit with Inside Line: “The pandemic has forced all of our characters to reevaluate their lives. And one of them will leave New Amsterdam for good.”
Any scoop on Chicago P.D.’s Burzek or Upstead? –Riley
Showrunner Rick Eid offers up this cryptic tease for the latter twosome: “Losing the baby had a major impact on both of them, but their relationship will continue to evolve and deepen. There is definitely a possibility for a real relationship.”
Any chance that Ziva will return again to NCIS? –Vickie
When it comes to having series vet Cote de Pablo put in another appearance, EP Steve Binder told me, “It’s always going to be, ‘Let’s not grab Cote and stick her in.’ It’s, ‘Let’s come up with a story first, and see if it’s something worthy of bringing that character back.'” So… is there such a story looming? “We’ve really played, for now, all of the cards there are to play [with Ziva], so we have no plans at the moment,” he said, “but we’re certainly always open to it.”
With Alex Landi joining Walker on The CW, are we going to see less (if not any more) of Nico on Grey’s Anatomy? –Arthur
Both of Landi’s roles, on Grey’s and on Walker, are simply recurring, and it’s not at all unusual for one actor to recur on two shows at the same time. As such, I am hearing that Grey’s hopes to continue having Nico around exactly as much as is needed.
Will Magnum and Higgins go undercover again, like they did in Seasons 1 and 2? –Hayley
Although there is no episode-long undercover assignment in the Season 3 books just yet, the partners in private eye-ing will pose as recruiters from a fake MMA league in order to talk to novice fighter who is involved with some nefarious characters. (And in doing so, we’ll even get one of Higgins’ fun fake accents!)
Hi, can I have any scoop for 9-1-1: Lone Star? –Carlynn
Sharif Atkins (White Collar) and Kim Matula (LA to Vegas) will guest-star as potential victims in the season’s big, opening disaster, which will be teased in the final minutes of the Monday, Jan. 18 premiere and then be the focus of Episode 2 (airing Jan. 25).
On FBI, Ebonee Noel’s absence was explained away as Kristen taking a job elsewhere, but what happened to Haena Kim? –Linda
Kim was always just a guest star during Season 2 (as Special Agent Emily Ryder), and at this time here are no plans for her next appearance.
Will NCIS: Los Angeles Season 12 dive into flashback storyline arcs for Deeks, to see his childhood? –Tony
“I think that’s something we will explore eventually,” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said when I delivered your Q — though it’s always a matter of finding the time, and the right time. “The characters sort of take you on their own journey, even though you might have a plan for them,” the EP explained. “We always kick around stories that involve Deeks’ past — when he was a lawyer and things like that — and he is going to come to a point this season where he has to think about what he really wants to do in terms of the future. Is he going to still want to be a part of LAPD? Does he still want to be a part of NCIS? He has a lot of personal decisions to make, and that’ll take us past Christmas.”

Okay now I’m dying. Who’s playing young Jason, lol.
Jason was (a very clean-cut) Bravo 3 back then.
Okay, I think I get it :-)
So, Ebonee Noel’s absence was explained on-screen, but how about some BTS info. Whyyyyyyy?!?!!? I really liked her on the show, and was really disappointed to have her disappear. Also, I may have been hoping for some Kristen-Jubal happenings.
I really liked he on the show too.
I liked Ebonee Noel on the show as well.
I’m guessing either Swanee or Clay’s dad was Bravo 1
It’s funny they made such a huge deal over hiring Alex Landi to play the first gay regular character in the show and his character gets a couple of minutes on screen every other episode. He seems to exist to check the gay and Asian boxes. I wish they’d give him material to work with.
He’s there totally just to be a love interest that’s the extent of his character.
Agree 100%, it’s like they hired him for the press release and have done nothing with the character.
I have been waiting for them to give Alex Blue Davis as Dr. Casey Parker more of a storyline. I don’t even think he is still on the show. They talked about hiring a trans actor, but they have not done much with him which is a shame because he is talented.
Is Mandy totally out on SEAL Team or is it open ended for her return? I love the idea of Jason and Mandy together and was so disappointed to hear the reports about JP no longer being a regular.
No ones talking out loud, but I have news for ST Mandy has gained many more fans since the pilot, and her and Jason’s relationship is the best in the show, because they work together and to not follow it through will be for me the longest anti climactic. Flop in my viewing memory.
She is still on, just not as a regular.
Reportedly she isn’t going to be back but Jessica Pare is going to direct and episode in a directoral debut.
No Ziva no NCIS for me. Ziva, Tony, and Magee’s humorous investigative trio made the show for me. Without that it’s just another boring procedural.
I quit NCIS when Ziva did and haven’t been back, either.
It seems that all the interesting characters on NCIS are no longer there and have been replaced by second rate actors. I absolutely cannot stand Bishop and the scientist isn’t much better.
Rick Eid just needs to stop giving Burzek fans hope. We all know and don’t believe him that he actually going to give them a relationship. All he cares about is Upstead
He’s got Burzek baiting down to a fine art…gotta keep people watching somehow. I’m not sure Upstead is as popular as he seems to think or want them to be.
I just started the show a few weeks ago and Burzek should be, as people say, “endgame”. They just don’t seem right with anyone else. They have been through alot and I just wish they would get together already, permanently.
I would rather they keep Upstead strictly platonic. They definitely give me Benson/Stabler vibes, and I like that way more than the entire Intelligence unit being one little dating pool.
1. Don’t tell me Buck ends up being the result of an affair his mom had or something.
2. NCIS: Ziva had a happy ending with Tony. Bring both back for an episode or not at all
As long as Sharpe is not the one leaving New Amsterdam… If Sharpe leaves, so do I.
Technically Jocko Sims has not left….for good. At least that’s what showrunner Schulner said yesterday. And he lists all the other regualrs as returning.
Excellent. Glad to hear that Sharpe isn’t the one leaving.
Matt, I love (and share) your passion for SEAL Team. Thank you for always writing about it. I’m so looking forward to the premiere.
Same here. It’s great how much love the show gets on this site. Cannot wait till tomorrow night
Very excited about the new season of Magnum PI!
Grey’s can just let Alex Landi go. Nico is the most emotionless character on TV. I can’t think of a Grey’s character I’ve liked less, and I’m still a huge fan of the show.
Was Buck adopted? Is that the big secret Maddie is keeping from him? Is the baby a boy or a girl? When will Chimney pop the question? Did Hen join med school? Does anybody know anything about Christopher and abuela during the pandemic? Where is Eddie?
But only Ebonee Noel character’s absence was explained. Will there be an interview with Ebonee Noel sometime in the future?
DB wouldn’t allow anyone else to play a younger dB than himself. I have no doubt the ops good but I’m concerned about what are they doing with Mandy, she a wonderful character, although underestimated from the start but her being cast down to guest us troubling
Can’t wait until SEAL Team premiers on Wednesday night.
My favorite show used to be NCIS LA but the last couple of years have delved way too far into the Deeks and Kensie and the geek couple’s personal relationship which in my humble opinion is sooo boring and then Hetty being gone had just ruined the show. I start to watch but quickly change the channel – if only Hetty would come back….
Very excited to see Kim Matula will be doing a guest shot on 911 Lone Star. Have liked her in Chicago Law, UnReal, and even in the terrible Vegas thing.
Not very happy with the way they are going about Mandy’s character at all. Is there any word on her?
Watch The SEAL Team, Wednesdays on CBS!
Looking forward to SEAL T. However there are some concerns coming about Mandy/ JP, after 3 Seasons of build up between Jason and Mandy are we going to see a bait & switch? KIck aside possibly one of the best arcs in a currant series for one of the worst in Natalie…..
Listen it’s been such a long wait I really can’t take many surprises from New Amsterdam! So Grace died, Reynolds is leaving who else could be leaving us now!!!? I hope they are not one of those shows who has a good thing going and in the name of improvement ultimately ruin it by removing beloved characters. Please tell me that the main cast Max (obviously not), Helen(obviously not), VJ, Bloom, Iggy, Coffee girl (not main n don’t remember her name but she’s still special) are not leaving
