Jeremy Renner is on the mend after being run over by his personal snowplow — an accident that left him in critical but stable condition.
“Thank you all for your kind words,” the Mayor of Kingstown star wrote on Instagram Tuesday, along with a photo from his hospital bed. “I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”
According to an initial report from Nevada’s Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officials arrived on the scene — which was in the area of Reno’s Mt. Rose Highway — around 9 am Sunday in response to a traumatic injury. Renner, who was the only person involved in the accident, was later airlifted to a hospital, where he underwent surgery for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.
“Based on our investigation, Mr. Renner’s personal vehicle, which was being driven by a family member, had become stuck in the snow near his home,” Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said during a press conference Tuesday. “Mr. Renner went to retrieve his PistenBully, or Snowcat, an extremely large piece of snow removal equipment weighing at least 14,330 pounds in an effort to get his vehicle moving.
“After successfully towing his vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his PistenBully to speak to his family member,” Balaam continued. “At this point, it was observed that the PistenBully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling PistonBully, Mr. Renner attempts to get in the driver’s seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it is at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully.”

Renner currently stars in the above-mentioned Mayor of Kingstown as Mike McLusky, head of a powerful family in charge of a Michigan town where incarceration is the main industry. Season 2 of the Taylor Sheridan drama is set to premiere on Sunday, Jan. 15 on Paramount+.
In addition, Renner also will star in and executive-produce Rennervations, an upcoming four-part unscripted series for Disney+. Per the show’s official logline, the project “embraces Jeremy Renner’s lifelong passion to give back to communities around the world by reimagining unique purpose-built vehicles to meet a community’s needs. Behind the big screen, Jeremy is a construction aficionado, and he is heavily invested in the highly creative fabricator culture that exists across the globe and hopes to change lives with these skills and inspire others to do the same.”
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe know Renner as Hawkeye, a character he most recently reprised in Disney+’s Hawkeye series.
Get well soon mate, we need another Hawkeye series. Just kidding. Speedy recovery xxx
im glad hawkeye is doing better
Hopefully he’s on the road to recovery.
Apparently it’s PistenBully, maybe because a piste is a ski run?
Yikes, sheesh. Anybody getting Anton Yelchin vibes from this? I’m starting to think vehicles have it out for actors.
That’s exactly who I thought of when I heard about this. Though I don’t think either situation were anything more than terrible accidents. I’m glad to see Renner survived his.
I hope he recovers well and no further complications. Jeremy get better
My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Renner and his family. What a terrible freak accident to suffer, and I might add not a very good way to start the year.
Get well soon, Hawkeye.
My mother and I are wishing you a speedy recovery and well wishes. No one can run the Mayor of Kingston without you, Jeremy Renner aka Mike McLusky. You travelled a little too far this time with no phone signal, up the hill to the cabin, (lol) but at least you got the medical attention you needed quickly this time. No more driving the Snow Plow like you do your Lincoln Town Car. (Hold your Slurpee- Bunny). Get Well Soon! We will be watching Season 2, but definitely need you for Season 3 and so on.
I was shocked to hear what happened to you, such a freak accident. I’m glad to read now that you are on the mend. Just take it easy, and let your family and close friends be there for you. Of course I’ll keep you in my prayers. The power of prayer is great. :)
Good to have update from him personalty. I was really worried reading all the news about his accident past two days. Wish him well, and hope he will recover soon.
Glad they got him airlifted to the hospital in time.
Such a fluke of an accident but seeing the picture makes probably all of us feel better. He’s going to have a long haul recovery and hopefully knowing so many people are pulling for him helps. Jeremy is one of the good guys.
Yus. This guy is one of the good ones. Seeing the pic was indeed a bit of a relief. Was expecting the worst for him but wishing him the absolute best.
Wow, unless it’s literally going to run over someone else, let a 7-ton vehicle go – don’t try to jump in to it. Hoping for a smooth recovery.
Unfortunately, in the heat of the moment we all do things that after the fact we realize were really stupid. I’m sure he realizes this now.
Fight or flight response. He chose fight.
God’s God’s speedy recovery 🙏
God’s speedy recovery
Hope he recovers but anyone calling this an accident is wrong. By the description given it was not an accident. It was the result of his stupidity and irresponsibility of getting out of vehicle before making sure it was secured and could not move.
Do you feel better about yourself now?
Were you there? Or just assuming he didn’t secure it before getting out? Maybe he secured it but the braking system failed. We don’t know yet. The police are investigating what happened.
Maybe he thought his superhero training would help him leap into the cab, but I’m glad he survived this misadventure
Oh, that poor guy. So glad he’s on the mend. Someone else mentioned Anton Yelchin’s accident, and I have to agree with their comment about the similar vibes here. We’re rooting for you, Jeremy.
Gotta set that blade down! Buddy of mine lost both legs from the same machine. Luck to be alive.
