Nominations for the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday and ABC’s General Hospital led the soapy pack with 23 total nods, edging out Days of Our Lives‘ 22. The Young and the Restless followed with 21, while CBS sister series The Bold and the Beautiful netted 13.
Rookie talker The Kelly Clarkson Show put up a strong showing, scoring seven total nods (the most of any entertainment talk show) including for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.
Meanwhile, Dr. Oz (the show and the talk show host) were completely shut out for the first time in a decade. Were his controversial coronavirus comments to blame?
After having been relegated to an online live stream for the past four years, this year’s ceremony will return to its broadcast roots (albeit virtually) via CBS on Friday, June 26 at 8/7c. The broadcast will only include leading categories, with recipients and special guests appearing from home.

When was the last time Ellen DeGeneres was shut out as a talk show host nominee?
She hasn’t been nominated since 2009
She hasn’t been nominated since 2009.
Some Daytime Emmy eligibility is weird. Like Hulu’s Light as a Feather is considered a daytime show for some reason.
Did she take herself out of the running a decade ago? I think I read something about that.
Yes she did–hipper. And I remember when Ophra did that a long time ago.
Alex Trebek for $200 please?
They’ll probably give it to Trebek since he may not be around to be nominated next year.
Just out of curiousity, are there any other Daytime soaps left, other than those nominated? And if not, is this not then an exercise in futility?
That’s all of them that air on broadcast. There’s also a digital drama category (After Forever, The Bay The Series, DARK/WEB, Eastsiders, Studio City).
Amusing thing is sometimes the best casting category only nominates 3 out of the 4.
Those are the final 4. So essentially they’re all nominated. Since there are 4, it is not an exercise in futility as one will win and three will lose. If there was only 1 left, then yes your statement would be more appropriate.
+100 TVLine Power User points (no cash value)
Could also say that saying ‘It’s an honor just to have our show be nominated’ is an exercise in futility.
Where are Sonny and Mike? Their alzheimers story is so perfectly acted. They deserve awards
The episodes from 2020 aren’t eligible, and I read somewhere else that Maurice and Max did not submit themselves for consideration (I’m not sure how true that is though).
I would imagine they will be nominated next year if they submit, especially since it looks like Max’s storyline is coming to an end.
Yeah – that was my first thought too. No offense to anyone nominated, but Max Gale and Maurice Bernard are killing it in this storyline. I’d understand if Maurice took himself out of contention to give other people a chance, but where’s the nomination for Max Gale? Or William Lipton in the young performer category? Also Fiona Hughes was gone for half the year – how did she get a nomination for lead actress? Yes, she’s fantastic, but c’mon
I believe Max won last time. And also had Maurice.
They both won last year for this same story line.
I’m curious why the decision to merge Younger Actor and Younger Actress was made? And why is it that there were no male nominees in that category? Will Lipton and Garren Stitt should both have been nominated for their work last year. That being said, I think Eden McCoy deserves the award, she was phenomenal in the Oscar’s death story.
Yeah – both Lipton and Stitt deserve some recognition for their work. That category is ridiculous
I agree with you why do away with that category one younger Actress and one Younger Actor they deserved to be nominated
The pool of potential nominees for those two categories were always quite small. Putting them together makes it a more competitive category
Steve Burton nominated? Hahahahahahaha… Oh, wait, That’s serious? His character is called stone cold for a reason, because he stands around with one expression and it’s a pile of frozen rock. The others from GH are good choices, though.
His storylines have been crazy boring, as well, so who knows why he was nominated over actors that had more material and better performances.
That nomination alone verified the whole thing is fixed. Not only does the character lack depth but he did not even have his own story. He was simply propped by everyone else to stand around and stare.
So exciting to see a lot of AMC actors nominated! Oh wait…um yeah…not nominated for AMC. Still bitter.
Ha! A lot of us are including, according to the History of Soaps special, Carol Burnett!
Did you notice how many AMC clips there were in that special? Clearly more scenes of Erica Kane and AMC characters than any other show.
WOW its great to see Finola Hughes (comicbook nerd moment, she voice Superman’s mom, Lara Lor-Van on Superman: The Animated Series) nominated for lead actress
Bold & The Beautiful should have gotten more nominations. But so glad that the show is on TV again!!!!
B and B had it’s worst season ever, even when they started a good story they ran it into the ground and repeatedly alienated a large portion of their fans. I feel sorry for the performers who put their all into it.
How is the actress that plays Willow on GH in the younger actress category with the actress who plays Josslyn from GH? She is a teacher and has been on the show a few years so not a brand new teacher so she’s at least in her mid 20s. Isn’t that category for kids and teenagers like The character of Josslyn? The two nominated for supporting actress from GH aren’t even on the show anymore. What a waste bringing Hayden back just to get rid of her again. Wouldn’t she be checking on her own child? I’m sure the fact that Nicolas Cassadine is alive made the news. Would she not know it’s safe to come back now?
Younger performer category is for performers under the age of 25. She’s 24.
Awesome for Kelly Clarkson! Her show is so much fun, and her daily covers are out of this world!
for sure
Christel Khalil (Lily, Y&R) HOW IS THIS A THING? PLS EXPLAIN? Kelly Clarkson sweep for talk show pls.
I don’t understand Kelly Clarkson’s appeal. She’s loud and fake. Everything everyone says is ‘amazing’ and fall off the couch funny to her.
Don’t think she’s fake at all. One of the most down to earth person I’ve seen in the entertainment business
every one of her guest say they have the most fun they have ever had on a show. it gives me a laugh every day. Obviously you do not watch the show because her guest also say she is the most genuine person they have ever met.
Larry King?
Larry King is one of the worst interviewers I’ve every seen. He usually doesn’t know much or anything about the people he’s interviewing, & the interviews are very awkward. Can’t believe he got a nomination. The people who fill in for him do a much better job with the interviews than he does.

Jh. Should be best actress
Outstanding informative talk show?
The View? What a joke!
Daily Pop on E should be nominated for entertainment show! Love the 3 hosts on that show. They have great chemistry! And the younger actor award should have a cut off age of 18. Katelyn MacMullen should be in the supporting or lead actress category.
Love it all
