Nominations for the 77th Tony Awards were revealed Tuesday — and several of your favorite TV stars are up for Broadway’s top honors.
Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Jessica Lange (American Horror Story) are nominated for their work in Mother Play. Lange will compete with AHS co-star Sarah Paulson (who is nominated for her performance in Appropriate).
Meanwhile, Jeremy Strong (Succession) is nominated for An Enemy of the People. He’ll compete with William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), who is being acknowledged for his work in Uncle Vanya, and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), who currently stars opposite fellow Tony nominee Amy Ryan (Only Murders in the Building) in Doubt: A Parable.
Tony winners Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Girls5eva) announced this year’s nominees from Sofitel New York. (Select nominations were unveiled on CBS Mornings.)
Hosted again by Broadway star-turned-Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, the 2024 Tony Awards will air live from the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City on Sunday, June 16 (at 8/7c) on CBS (and stream on Paramount+).

Review the Tony nominations as they trickle in above, then drop a comment with your thoughts on the nominees below. Any major snubs on your radar?
Why wasn’t Harmony nominated for anything? It was a great play and deserved to be nominated for several awards. Shame on you Tony awards!
Agreed. It was much better than I expected and Chip Zien deserved a nomination.
Wow, A lot of musicals that I don’t have experience with yet. I’ve got some work to do. I feel like Merrily we roll along is a lock for most of the ones that they are nominated for.
I have a love/hate relationship with the idea behind the heading of this article. While I’m happy that these other media stars will likely bring new eyeballs to the theater, I’d hate to see the majority of the accolades or juicy roles transferred to quote/unquote bigger stars.
I agree. The Tony Awards often have performers who have appeared on TV, so comparing it to The Emmys is silly. BUT this is a website devoted to TV so 🤷♀️
The actors who are nominated for Tonys, who have also played roles on tv, are all excellent actors and deserve their nominations.
Come on Sarah Paulson get that Tony!
Inexperienced Broadway fan here. Are Tony’s only for new plays in that current year? So if a new actor took on the role of let’s say Hamilton from Hamilton or Tracy from Hairspray (if that’s still going), can they not get nominated for a Tony?
You are correct.
Correct.. Which is why Lea Michelle couldn’t be nominated when she took over playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl.
The Tony Awards are the one awards show we never miss in my family. It’s such a great chance to see performances from the original casts when we can’t make it to Broadway ourselves.
Loved Ariana DeBose the last few years as host, too. She really knocked it out of the park during the writer’s strike.
I still gotta get use to them calling the show, “Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club”
Congratulations to Jim Parsons and Jessica Lange on their Tony nominations. Also congratulations to Eddie Redmayne on his Tony nomination.
No love for The Wiz?
I’m rooting for Water for Elephants to win Best Musical! :D
