Camila Cabello Joins The Voice for Season 22, Replacing Kelly Clarkson
Camila Cabello is joining NBC‘s The Voice for Season 22, the multiplatinum recording artist announced Sunday afternoon on TikTok.
TVLine can confirm that Cabello will serve as a full-time coach alongside Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and John Legend. She thus replaces Kelly Clarkson, who is stepping away from the singing competition for the first time since she became a coach back in Season 14.
Cabello previously served as an advisor during Season 21, for Team Legend.
Airing just a singular cycle this TV season, The Voice last fall averaged 8.2 million total weekly viewers and a 1.0 demo rating (with Live+7 playback). Among all NBC entertainment programs that aired this TV season, it trails only the #OneChicago trifecta in total audience, while tying for No. 6 in the demo (behind This Is Us, #OneChicago and SVU).
The Voice‘s Season 22 premiere date is expected to be announced on Monday morning, as part of NBC’s Upfront presentation/fall schedule reveal to advertisers.

Ceelo was absolutely awful. Looking forward to a new voice on the roster of coaches. Wish Ariana was coming back. She was a very welcome breath of fresh air.

She did this when she was 14 and has addressed it and apologized.
She addressed it because she was caught and she didn’t really treat the other girls in her girl group nicely. Like Jenna Dewan once said, ‘she’s always so extra’.
Her new album flopped HARD. Her three recent singles also tanked.
She shared and used racial slurs against African Americans and Asian Americans from the age of 14 to 16 publicly. At 16 she also used racial slurs against her African American bandmate. 16 is old enough to understand there are somethings that are really offensive that you shouldn’t call people.
Some would say she still targets that bandmate She conveniently has surprise music releases and major events on the same day that the band mate has pre-scheduled releases and events to take away media attention from her former bandmate.
If she stole from a store at 16 she would have to live with that blight for the rest of her life. Her former bandmate still lives with the nickname CC perpetrated and encouraged her fans to use. Not saying she should be cancelled but others are having to live with the consequences of her actions and if this keeps coming up for a while it’s perfectly understandable. The only thing she can do is live a better life so that her past is not her defining moment. She’s young. People have overcome worse. It has been a few years not a lifetime
If she stole something at 16, she should absolutely carry that with her the rest of her life, but she should also have a shot at redemption. How stupid to punish someone for the rest of their lives over something they did when she was 16. This cancel culture nonsense has to stop.
That being said…who the heck is this person? This show has always been famous for picking big name coaches. This is the first time I’ve felt they were phoning it in. I mean…who’s gonna pick Team Camila??
Racism and hatred are not nonsense, it’s hurtful and demeaning. Just because someone is forced to apologize to save their career doesn’t mean they really mean it. Y’all love giving these types of people the benefit of the doubt but can’t find that benefit of the doubt for anyone else. If you really believe in redemption it should apply to anyone who makes a mistake, depending on the circumstance.

This is what the internet does. They don’t show any grace for people possibly learning, growing and changing. Especially those who do stupid things when they are younger. As if they all are perfect. Yes I was one who wasn’t sure Ariana was going to be a good idea after the Miley debacle, but she was a nice addition. If they can keep rotating them they have a pretty good bullpen. Her, Camilla now, Kelly after a much needs break, Nick, Gwen…heck the one thing I agree with above is bring Shakira back, instead of that other show they’ve got two of them doing.

Even though there isn’t much “coaching” going on, that is primarily what the role is supposed to be. Coach/Judge call it whatever you want.
There may be a 23 year old capable of coaching in the NBA but it just isn’t done because they don’t have the experience. This should be no different.
A coach on this show should have years of experience and highs and lows in the music industry. Camila does not have enough and it is not like she is an iconic vocalist either.
This show has never been about the coaching. It’s purely an entertainment show. Camila was hired because she can bring in a younger audience. It’s as simple as that.
Camilla is one of the few artists in America who came from a music reality show and made it. Granted, she is no Kelly Clarkson, who is still the most successful former singing contestant in America, but, in the absence of her, Cabello has been around for a decade,
After being the fifth coach and sitting in for Kelly I would really like Kelsea to join the show as a regular coach
I’m saddened to find out that Kelly is not returning. I think she brings a lot to the show and her interaction with Blake is awesome
I think the problem here is that like with scripted The Voice is shedding viewers/demo yearly too. So perhaps this is just NBCs way of trying to freshen things up so the show doesn’t hit new lows when it returns?
I hope this means Kelly Clarkson will be spending time making a new album and performing. She’s a great songwriter, and still has the best voice of any pop singer out there.

I hope Kelly comes back after next season. I just love her! Taking a break seems like a good plan for her after the couple of years she’s had though. Hopefully she’ll now be able to find some time to put out some new music!

Have to admit, I’ve grown tired of the show. I didn’t even watch last season.
I’ll miss Clarkson. She was good on this show. NBC must think Cabello will draw that younger crowd.
I like Camilla and will be fun to see her as a judge, though I will miss Kelly. (Do we know why she’s stepping away? Is it because her plate is full with her talk show and other projects? Whatever the reason, I just hope she’s doing okay.)
I like that NBC is only going to do one cycle this tv season. Two can sometimes be too much. Sometimes less is more.

They are boosting Kelly’s talk show to take over for Ellen, so one can assume that she will need to focus more on the talk show for a bit. She’s worked so much, she really needs a break. I’m surprised NBC also had her on that songwriter show too. I love Kelly but giving her and the audience a break is a good thing sometimes.

It’s going to be the first season that all the contestants will be better singers than one of the judges and I can’t imagine what singer would pick her for their coach.. I was getting tired of it last season, glad I don’t have to watch this season.
Not hardly. They’ve had Pharrell Williams and Miley. Heck, I wouldn’t say Ceelo has great range either. And a number of other ones are very average. It’s not like they’re all Christina.

BEST NEWS EVER!!! I wasn’t going to watch this season because Kelly Clarkson is starting to get on my last nerve…. she was cute in the very beginning, but in the last couple of years she’s definitely become very enamored with herself. Her over competitiveness and making fun and being nasty to the other coaches (especially Blake)does get on your nerves. I stopped watching her talk show too because she interrupts all her guests so SHE can talk… she’s the worst interviewer. And is so loud and often childish and obnoxious . I think Camila will be a nice refreshing change. There is way too much Kelly on tv…it’s time for her to take a break👍
