A Bridesmaid and a Ken are both booking return trips to Saturday Night Live.
Former cast member Kristen Wiig will host the April 6 episode of SNL (NBC, 11:30 pm ET), TVLine has learned, with musical guest Raye. Plus, Barbie star Ryan Gosling will host the show the following week, on April 13, with musical guest Chris Stapleton.
Wiig was an SNL cast member from 2005 to 2012, earning four Emmy nominations for her work on the NBC sketch comedy staple. She has since returned to host the show four times, most recently in December 2020. She’s set to star with Allison Janney and Laura Dern in Apple TV+’s Palm Royale, premiering March 20 on the streamer.
This will be Gosling’s third time hosting SNL, with his most recent stint coming in September 2017. In addition to his universally acclaimed role as Ken in the big-screen blockbuster Barbie — which led to a live performance of the song “I’m Just Ken” at the Oscars this week — Gosling will star opposite Emily Blunt in the upcoming movie The Fall Guy, hitting theaters on May 3.
Ahead of those two episodes, actor and stand-up comic Ramy Youssef will host the March 30 episode of SNL, with musical guest Travis Scott.
Are you hoping to see Wiig resurrect some of her old SNL characters? How about a Ken reprise from Gosling? Hit the comments with your thoughts on the news.
This is the best thing I’ve heard all day.
This is very exciting! Although they missed an opportunity to have Ryan Gosling be host and musical guest
Would love for Kate Mckinnon to make a surprise appearance on Gosling’s episode as the woman abducted by aliens.
And, Cecily Strong. 🙏
Ryan is really having a moment, of course SNL would want him to host again. He is the host I’m most excited to see this season. Hope they give him at least one musical sketch to show of his singing talent
OH yes Kristen !! my fav cast member ever ! I have her last 4 hosting gigs saved forever and this one will be no exception.( among tons of my fav everything with her starring ) I am hoping her new movie will be great for her! I adore her and all her talents!
Ryan does so well on SNL and he really seems to love it there and it shows :)I Always prefer guests that DONT rely on the cue cards for every spoken word, its called rehearsals and HE does them!
ALSO I Hope with both guests the- do not destroy- guys make an appearance with both Kristen and Ryan <3
Hope they don’t resurrect Wiig’s pointless “Gilly” sketches—recurring-character catchphrases are annoying (and a hallmark of lazy writers). Otherwise looking forward to these April episodes—especially with two musical guests in a row who sing (as opposed to rappers droning with a bazillion backup dancers behind them).
