As production begins on Snowpiercer Season 4 — and ahead of tonight’s Season 3 finale — TNT has announced that Agent of SHIELD favorite Clark Gregg is boarding the dystopian drama.
Michael Aronov (The Americans) is also joining the cast for Season 4, which was greenlit way back in July; no character details were disclosed for either actor.
Additionally, Paul Zbyszewski (Agents of SHIELD, Helstrom) is taking over as showrunner next season, succeeding EPs Graeme Manson and Aubrey Nealon.
“We have been blessed with an abundance of riches in building the world of Snowpiercer – from the incredible cast and crew, to the loyal fanbase and the building blocks afforded from the film and graphic novel,” Manson and Aubrey Nealon said in a statement. “Tonight’s finale is the culmination of several storylines, with unexpected twists and turns around every corner, and leading to an exciting fourth season with Paul’s vision and creative storytelling continuing the incredible show momentum.”
Said Zbyszewski, “I’m so grateful to everyone at TNT and Tomorrow Studios for letting me join the riveting world of Snowpiercer that Graeme and Aubrey have so beautifully crafted and built. We have an exciting fourth season planned, and I can’t wait to be on set with such an incredible cast and crew as we continue to explore new worlds, create new mysteries, and develop character relationships.”
Ahead of Monday night’s season finale, Layton (played by Daveed Diggs), Ben (Iddo Goldberg), Josie (Katie McGuinness), Alex (Rowan Blanchard) and Javi (Roberto Urbina) banded together to rescue Melanie (Jennifer Connelly). Relieved to find her alive, she was brought back on board the train safely, resulting in a blowout party on the train. The celebration was short-lived, however, and alliances were tested, when Melanie exposed Layton for misleading the passengers by offering hope of finding a viable existence in New Eden.
In the Season 3 finale itself, “old adversaries clash, with New Eden hanging in the balance.”

HBO max premiere date?
Season 3 on April 29th. Lifehacker has a coming to/going from HBO Max list for April. Doesn’t seem as if I can link it so you’ll have to trust me (or search for it yourself).
It’s so grim and depressing. Why does the future always have to be so awful? Wouldn’t it be nice if people had fun on the train, and visited exotic locales? Maybe some romance on the rails. And fancy dining and activities to make the trip more pleasurable.
And they could disembark in Puerto Vallarta every week! (Since you’re basically describing the Love Boat…)
Yes, and Loveboat was a giant smash hit!
Every time they announce another ’80s reboot, I think: who on earth is crying out for another retread instead of something new and original?
.
Now I guess I know.
In 1979, NBC introduced a show called “Supertrain,” in which staffers and guest stars traveled every week on a high-speed train with cruise ship-like amenities (Variety called it ” ‘Love Boat’ on wheels”). It lasted nine episodes.
Exotic locals? Do you even know what this show is about? What’s Exotic about earth in the second ice age? Smh
They should write an episode where the ice melts and things begin to look sunnier, both figuratively and literally.
That sounds like the recap of last week’s episode “A Beacon for Us All.” Tonight’s finale is “The Original Sinners.” A teaser video has an interesting shot of Melanie shaking hands with Wilford so I’m guessing that they will form an uneasy alliance against Layton.
Yep; fixed!
The creator of Daybreak and Helstrom is the new showrunner? Ummm…
Oh dear. Oh no.
to be fair helstrom was doomed by factors outside of the show itself.
Looking forward to the finale as well as next season. Hope it gets renewed for many more
This guy was great in New Adventures of Old Christine. One of the funniest shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching. Don’t really see how he’ll fit on this show, but I’ll give it a shot. Season one of the series was great. Not so much the last two.
Snowpiercer has gone completely off the rails.
I see what you did there.
I hope there won’t be filler episodes like “Born to Bleed” or “Ouroboros” like in this season that really took the speed out of the story.
If you don’t have a plot, shoot less episodes.
Those episodes were godawful. I fast forwarded through the entirety of Ouroboros except for the parts that were actually happening, which was like a total of six minutes. What was the point of that episode, again? Who thought we wanted to watch that Layton’s inconsequential dream sequence for 40 minutes? Ugh.
So, looks like they find a new Eden even if it is not New Eden. Unless you want us to believe there are still people in the drawers to be released….
So where has Coulson, I mean Gregg, been hiding for the last 3 seasons? Should be interesting how they incorporate him into the show.
He was hidden in frozen Tahiti.
Darn it! Now I’ll have incentive to watch Snowpiercer! Clark Gregg is among my all-time favorite TV actors (my DVD collection can attest to that fact).
Clark is always good in everything. I saw him recently in an old Commish episode back when he was just a young pup in his early 30s.
