The Chase Shakes Up Its Roster of Chasers (Who’s In? Who’s Out?), as ABC Sets Upcoming Reality Slate
Three new adversaries will join in The Chase, and two familiar foes will depart, when the ABC quiz show premieres its new season in May.
ABC has announced a new reality slate to premiere Tuesday, May 3, kicking off with a Muppet-fied Holey Moley Season 4 (at 8/7c), followed by The Chase Season 3 and then the new, true crime-inspired Who Do You Believe?
Additional summer premiere dates will be announced at a later date.
Holey Moley‘s new season promises “a collaboration for the ages” when favorites from the Muppets unite with on-camera commentators Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore. Also returning are sideline correspondent Jeannie Mai as well as exec producer and resident golf pro Stephen Curry.
On the Sara Haines-hosted The Chase, Ken Jennings and Mark “The Beast” Labbett will step down as Chasers, making way for Victoria Groce (“The Queen” of all things trivia), speed-quiz titan Brandon “The Lightning Bolt” Blackwell and Jeopardy! vet Buzzy Cohen, who will join returning Chasers Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer.
As for Who Do You Believe?, this new series “features simultaneous storytelling to take viewers through compelling true-crime cases from dual perspectives.” In each episode, the audience steps into the shoes of two contrasting narratives to hear the recounts directly from the victims and criminals with never-before-revealed details. The viewer then plays armchair detective to deduce and piece together different versions of the truth. “Every episode culminates by revealing key details from the adjudicated cases leaving you to question: ‘Who Do You Believe?,'” says the synopsis.
Once again, additional ABC summer premieres will be announced at a later date.

Yes, The Beast carried the show all on his own before they made this remake. Bring back “The Beast”! If Ken Jennings is transitioning to full-time on Jeopardy! I can live with that and would be happy for him to host permanently. Brooke Burns definitely makes for a better host.
I’m surprised Brad is sticking around, it seemed like he was sidelined this season. Glad to see Buzzy come in, sad to see Ken leave.

Ugh I can’t stand Buzzy. Well at least they tell me who the chaser is so I won’t have to watch him. I was hoping Brooke Burns was coming in as the host. She reads the questions so much better, clearer, and gets them out fast and concise.

Not me. I absolutely love Craig Ferguson, but can’t stand The Hustler. I’d rather see him in a Celebrity Name Game reboot or a sitcom, or almost anything else.

Reading between the lines, it seems like Ken is stepping down to take a permanent role on Jeopardy. Sad to see him leave his role as a chaser, but there’s no doubt he’s far and away the best host candidate for Jeopardy.
We don’t need an unhinged tweeter who mocks the mother of special needs child as host of Jeopardy.
If you find that behavior obtuse – and disregarding said person’s numerous, profuse apologies – wait until you hear about the other candidate’s history of anti-vaccine statements, endorsement of non-clinically-tested brain supplements (whose manufacturer is in legal trouble for false advertising), financial support of the Israeli military despite being an American citizen, entertaining the discussion of C-section births being against “survival of the fittest” and apology of Weinstein and Weinstein-esque abusers as provoked by women who dress provocatively. Bear in mind that the latter candidate never apologize for any of these comments, but rather attempted to rationalize them. And all of that is putting aside her own admission that she was not a fan of Jeopardy until being considered to host it.
Now tell me, would that be the best ambassador of this wonderful show?

Ken Jennings is simply awful as the Jeopardy host. His comments about handicapped people are disgusting. You lie about Mayim Bialik. All of those lies have been debunked. I hope Mayim becomes the host. She’s the best!
Nope. I don’t care about her public statements, it’s herself I can’t stand. She poses and postures and tries to make the show all about her. She’s a pill. I’m not crazy about Ken and would have preferred Buzzy, but IMO Mayim was way at the bottom of the substitute parade they ran.

There’s no guarantee he will be permanent J! host. He may just want more time to write his new book. Fingers crossed though. I like Buzzy… it’s a good gig for him. But, Ken is the reason I watch.
Guarantee, no, but the odds of his appointment as permanent host (at least for the syndicated version) have certainly skyrocketed, particularly since his other on-air venture “Master Minds” is no longer in production. Ken can now devote way more time Jeopardy without having to worry about other commitments. Plus, he’s been the most visible presence on the show since Trebek’s passing, and the one with the highest ratings.
Hope so! I like Ken FAR better as Jeopardy host over Mayim.

Too many chasers? The UK’s version has 6 and if The Beast is leaving America’s version to do Australia’s version, then that’s 6
I like the variety of Chasers this time around. This should make for a unpredictable season—and a very fun Chasers’ Lounge!
I’ve seen the UK and Australia’s versions on YouTube and they don’t show the other chasers in the lounge.
Apparently the catch to getting a season 3 renewal was to get some cheaper talent in there. None of the changes sounds like an improvement.
I doubt it, that show is clearly so cheap to make. Half the time none of the contestants even win anything.
Maybe cause Ken was so good no one could win against him, maybe with the new group there will be more winners and make it more appealing to watch

Jeopardy would be absolutely foolish to let go of the marvelous Mayim B. The show is really in need of a female voice. Plus, her humble approach is far better than “Hey, look at me, I’m the all-time Jeopardy champ” Ken Jennings.

On a more serious note, I care more about what is between the host’s ears, not what lies between the host’s legs. When Mayim can prove that she can handle the show without a teleprompter or justify her candidacy without playing the woman card, we can revisit her eligibility.
He brought it up a few times during Amy’s run, when it was appropriate. Other than that, when has he brought it up on the show?
There are many women who would fit as host of Jeopardy; Mayim has proven that she is not one of them.
I hope she gets everything else she wants out of her TV career…but I’m Team Ken.

Love Buzzy but will miss Mark and Ken. They should have dropped Brad and James. Never even heard of the other two, so we shall have to see if we keep watching.

I’ll miss Ken Jennings and his humor. Otherwise I’ll watch to see what the newbies do and make up my mind on how I like the new lineup.
I like Mark Labette in the British version and will no longer watch with him off the show. I agree Brooke Burns needs to take the place of Sarah Haines.
I wish Sarah Haines would be replaced. Her voice is just terrible and do not know how she has maintained a job in broadcasting. I like The Chase but do not watch anymore because of Sarah’s voice.
Hope this means Ken Jennings will become the permanent host of Jeopardy.
