Chicago Med actress Torrey DeVitto on Wednesday addressed her impending exit from the NBC drama in a heartfelt message to fans.
“All good things must come to an end,” she wrote on Instagram, less than an hour after news broke that both she and co-star Yaya DaCosta would not be returning for Season 7. “It has been such an honor and pure joy to bring Dr. Natalie Manning to life for all of you on Chicago Med for the past 6 seasons. But it is now time for me and her to bow out and say goodbye.

“Thank you to all you loyal watchers who adored her as much as I did,” DeVitto added. “I can’t wait to share what’s to come with all of you. New adventures await!”
Both actresses, DeVitto as Dr. Manning and DaCosta as nurse April Sexton, have walked the halls of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center since the Dick Wolf-produced drama debuted on NBC in 2015. The characters have significant ties to the other shows in the One Chicago universe, appearing in several episodes of Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.
The rest of the Chicago Med cast — S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin, Oliver Platt as Dr. Daniel Charles, Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead, Brian Tee as Dr. Ethan Choi and Marlyne Barrett as nurse Maggie Lockwood — are all expected to return for Season 7, though their contracts are currently being negotiated.
Wishing her lots of success in her upcoming ventures!
I used to not care for her because of her role at Nanny Carrie on One Tree Hill but watching Chicago Med definitely made me a fan.
You know she was just playing a character, right?
This bites, I really love and enjoy April.
Me too! By far one of my fav characters!
Cannot say I’m disappointed by this news. I thought this actress was very….weak, to put it charitably.
I could not have said it any better thank you.
I find it interesting considering she’s dating the manager of the Chicago Cubs.
Yay and hallelujah!! best news I’ve had all week!!
Tbh, I’m surprised she lasted as long as she did considering she can’t act to save her life!
Bet you wish you could act(besides a fool)!ha loser
I’m surprised she’s leaving the show. She just announced that she literally has jumped on the Cubs bandwagon.
Only cuz you wish you could. Jealous hater.bOhni bet you could never get a nice chick like her.
She better brush up on her pronouns, “time fo me and her to bow out of the show”pitiful way to speak!
Um…actually, those are the correct pronouns.
Yes they are for all the h.s. dropouts here.
Then tell me, genius, what should the pronouns be?
.
No, you know what, I’ll tell you what, I’ll do the analysis for you. Let’s look at them individually. Let’s assume that she is just talking about herself and not the character:
.
The correct phrase would be “It’s time for me to bow out of the show.”
.
Okay, now, let us assume she is just talking about the character:
.
The correct phrase would be “it’s time for her to bow out of the show.”
.
Therefore, the correct combined phrase is “it’s time for me and her to bow out of the show.”
.
Perhaps we could debate about the order and whether it should be “me and her” or “her and me,” but “me” and “her” are absolutely 100% the correct pronouns.
.
*drops mic*
.
So petty.
And before you criticize someone’s grammar, you may want to brush up on your own. It’s “She’d better” or “she had better,” not “she better.”
.
Those who live in glass houses should not be throwing stones.
It has been a pleasure watching you on this show. Good luck in your new endeavors.
It’s about freakin’ time!
Doc Nat makes it seem do natural, you forget she’s acting. And she’s got that natural and nurturing sweetness which I bet she’s really like in her own life. She definitely does not belong with the doctor surgeon with the God Complex. Will miss her bad . The best always go I guess cuz there’s so much more out in Hollywood for them.
Love all e Chicago medical Chicago fire and Chicago police 👍👍👍
Sin ellas dos nada será igual.
so sad that she is leaving . I was looking forward to a good story line with Natalie and Crockett.
What about the bloke who plays se Crockett, as I love him , I’m not happy that they put him and do manning together, I’m.just not keen on her character I’m afraid
Her character could very possibly end up in jail for her recent actions.
.
That might actually be the most fitting end for her character.
.
Will could deserve that as well after the stunt he pulled last night.
I will miss both their characters. I was hoping to see Halstead and Manning get together, or at the very least, try again.
After 5/12 episode it was clear Manning was spiraling out of control. Very sorry to see her go. Liked relationship that was developing with Crockett.
Just as disappointed that April is leaving. Don’t like Ethan’s new doctor friend Dean especially the way he has manipulated April. Certainly hope Med brings in another person of color.
Me 2 hate April is leaving 😪
Will not be missed.
Not terribly saddened or disappointed that both are leaving. However, I believe the writers did a horrific character assassination on both actresses, and others, making them unlikable. In my opinion, they are not the same characters as portrayed when the show first began. And I think Manstead deserve each other as they both are unethical, liars, and just poor judges of situations. So yes I’m thinking the same thing that Nat will be written out with some type of negligent homicide with her mom. April will go to medical school or something. I like Crockett but I think he was a poor substitute for/not the best replacement for Connor Rhodes. To me the show has steadily gone downhill since they wrote out Connor. I think it’s time to pull the plug on Chicago Med.
I disagree I think he is better than dr Rhodes and he is extremely handsome, I hope the writers dont have him & her go off together
I agree. Pull the plug or bring in new writers to make Chicago Med more medically believable. I’m done with it.
I really liked DaCosta and hate to see her go. DeVitta seemed fake.
Wishing both of them the best but are two of my favorites on Chicago Med and will miss them.
Time Natalie went
Her moral character wasnt very good
Hot tired of seeing her go from man to man.
April Sexton will be missed by me and I’m sure many others … but does anyone like Dr Manning ??? She’s very annoying as a human I realize she’s just playing a role on the show
April will be missed. Wish she were not leaving. De. Acosta needs to go’ as well
She was performing good as Doctor Natalie. I was rather confused when she broke up with Doctor Halstead.
It gave an odd feeling. They were about to marry. Strange turnaround
