We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about lotsa shows including Ghosts, Ripley, S.W.A.T. and Law & Order: Organized Crime!
1 | In the finale of Netflix’s Ripley, would Inspector Ravini, who’d been shown to be very observant and savvy to this point, really not recognize Tom as the person he spoke to at length as Dickie Greenleaf, even with Tom’s ridiculous wig and the dim lighting?
2 | Yes, we know how much S.W.A.T.‘s Luca loves driving Black Betty and being out in the field (and we know Kenny Johnson was among this final season’s demoted series regulars), but realistically, wouldn’t he have been happy to run oversight from HQ instead of completely retiring?
3 | How hard did you facepalm when Fire Country‘s Cara lurched forward to catch the keys, un-impaling herself? And, what, inmate Bode happened to have handy an all-black wardrobe (including a natty black lightweight coat) to wear to Cara’s funeral?
4 | Was the director of TBS’ Final Four coverage simply being practical when they decided to slowly crop out Tracy Wolfson as she interviewed Purdue’s 7-foot-4 Zach Edey?
5 | On Curb Your Enthusiasm, who else were you hoping to see return for Larry’s trial? Wanda Sykes? Jon Hamm? Chris Williams as Krazy-Eyez Killa? Vivica A. Fox as Larry’s ex (and Leon’s sister) Loretta?
6 | Is returning mentor Tori Kelly quietly making a case for herself as Katy Perry’s replacement on American Idol next season?
7 | Did The Young and the Restless take inspiration for Ashley’s blindingly white psyche from Absolutely Fabulous‘ minimalist couple, Bettina and Max?
8 | In this week’s Deal or No Deal Island, were you Team Stephanie or Team Alyssa? And now that the latter has been eliminated, would you want to see her pop up on another show like Survivor or The Traitors?
9 | Watching Monday’s NCISVerse: The First 1,000 special, were you starting to think they wouldn’t show a single clip of either NCIS: LA‘s Linda Hunt/Hetty or Miguel Ferrer/Granger?
10 | Wouldn’t Heart’s Tonight Show performance of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” — which was filmed on the roof of 30 Rock during Monday’s solar eclipse (clever!) — have been that much more enjoyable had Jimmy Fallon not inserted himself into the performance/turned it into a bit?
11 | How old did it make you feel to learn that Kat Dennings will play a mother to teenaged children (!!) in Tim Allen’s ABC comedy pilot?
12 | Did you scan Disney+’s Beach Boys documentary trailer twice to make sure that John Stamos was not, in fact, featured?
13 | On Will Trent, are you expecting Uncle Antonio’s anti-cop pals to return and cause an even bigger issue for the titular GBI agent?
14 | If The Rookie (as showrunner Alexi Hawley told us) has no plans to write in Jenna Dewan’s pregnancy, is it their intention to be ironic, by having Bailey and John try for a baby?
15 | On The Good Doctor, if St. Bonaventure was severely understaffed at the onset of a mass casualty event, wouldn’t they have closed their ER to trauma and had more serious patients diverted to another hospital? And how did the late Dr. Asher Wolke manage to get a screen grab from the Season 5 episode “Potluck,” of him and Dr. Park shirtless and singing along to Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” to make that mug? ▼ (We revisited the tape, and neither Morgan nor Jerome took a photo of their boyfriends as they tripped on that hallucinogenic casserole.)
16 | How are we feeling about The Cleaning Lady‘s Jeremy (played by Brandon Jay McLaren)? Do we trust him?
17 | We know The Conners can’t show photos of Roseanne, but wasn’t it odd how they avoided showing a photo of Darlene and Becky’s late mom, then zoomed in on a photo of Shelley Winters’ Nana Mary?
18 | Is Ayanna quite simply the best (or the worst) addition to The Challenge: All Stars cast? And should the show have let Tina claim a star when she didn’t even have to compete for it?
19 | Survivor‘s Hunter stuck close by the Yanus for what was clearly a very difficult vote, but do you think he’ll join them for the long haul? And let’s hear your opinions of Ms. Venus. Love her? Loathe her? Does she stand any chance at all of winning?
20 | Is there even a tiny chance that Abbott Elementary‘s resident technophobe Barbara, who is famously bad with computers, would understand how to use ChatGPT to write email replies to Jacob?
21 | Did we not learn anything from the last time we tried rebooting Heroes and Melrose Place? (WED)
22 | Which of Devon Sawa’s four Chucky deaths has been the best/grossest?
23 | Given the CM Punk chants and generally negative response after AEW CEO Tony Khan aired the backstage footage of Punk’s altercation with Jungle Boy at All In London on this week’s AEW Dynamite, is it safe to say the decision to do so was a huge misstep?
24 | Parents: Has Law & Order: SVU ever been more realistic than when Noah brought up two of Olivia’s most complicated, trauma-inducing cases — both of which require long, heavy conversations — just as she was tucking him into bed for the night?
25 | On Young Sheldon, where was Mandy’s brother Connor (played in Season 6 by Joseph Apollonio) that he couldn’t make it to his own sister’s wedding?
26 | Is Ghosts‘ newest bit of terminology — to describe the process by which a poltergeist untethers itself from a person/object — frankly a bit too blue for the 8 o’clock hour sitcom?
27 | As reader Ryan pointed out, isn’t it funny that Grey’s Anatomy‘s Link suddenly understands not rushing to the next step with Jo when he certainly didn’t get that with Amelia? Wouldn’t Amelia and Maggie have had something to say about Meredith’s assertion to Nick that she’d been raising her and Derek’s kids alone for a long time? Finally, how wrong of it was Winston to diss his patient’s cuddle therapy in front of him, when it was clearly working?
28 | On Law & Order: Organized Crime, wasn’t Elliot’s dramatic unveiling of Joe’s heroin kit (what was that, a room service cover?) a needless bit of theatrics in an already charged moment?
29 | Knowing that this is the last season of Station 19, weren’t you, like, 100 times more worried that the show really was going to kill off Ben, Sullivan or both? Where the hell was this Theo through all of Season 6? And how lovely was Carina’s shout-out to her late brother? (R.I.P., DeLuca.)

If they write in Jenna’s pregnancy to The Rookie I will be furious. I’m already furious the conversation even happened. It goes completely against the character’s foundation since Day 1 that he wanted no more kids. All this to make Bailey (a much hated character) more relevant. What lazy writing.
Ghosts is fantastic! Leave it alone. ;)
“Much hated?” Not in this household. And many people who before they get married do not want kids and then shift that position when they do finally get married. Things change. People change. Life happens.
I wouldn’t say that her characters much hated but our household dislikes her very much. The character adds nothing to the story and besides that Fillion and then Dewan have zero chemistry. And then adding a baby on top of that would make it even worse. Other couples on the show have babies and they don’t even show them anymore, so why include one.
👍👍
I’m okay with the home drama – this show has always been about the characters’ personal lives almost as much as their job, and Nolan is the main character.
–
I does still annoy me, though, that Bailey is apparently the only paramedic for the Greater Los Angeles Area. She magically pops up at every crime scene and everybody acts like it’s totally normal.
I bet they don’t end up pregnant but the story will show the struggle to have kids when you’re older.
Jenna Dewan wil never be “hated.” She is wonderful and a terrific addition to cast of this show. She and Nolan are a great couple. This “chemistry” that people write about is pure nonsense.
I don’t think anyone hates the actor. They are talking about the character she plays which yeah, I find completely annoying and useless. Everytime she and Nolan come onscreen I zone out.
I may have missed something, but I have watched all episodes of Ghosts this year and I still do not know who went up in the season opener.
We don’t know since Flower is actually still around. Maybe they will address this next week when they finally find Flower.
They have not revealed that yet. The characters all think Flower went up, but we, the audience, know that isn’t true. The preview for next week looks like the characters find Flower next week, so they’re about to realize that they still don’t actually know who went up. The leading theory online is that it was Ralph…the teenage boy from the basement who went up to the attic with Stephanie. Nobody has mentioned him this season and Stephanie is still sleeping. We’ll probably find out for sure once Stephanie wakes up.
I worried that the death would be a cop out. It could be that after having ghost sex he was sucked off.
You did not miss anything. The beam of light seen at the end of last season has not been explained yet. It could be that a ghost moved on or perhaps there is another explanation.
Flower, and she didn’t get sucked off, she is in the well outside………….
As best we know so far, no one actually did as we know now it wasn’t Flower
Ralph the teenage boy. Likely slept with that teenage girl and got sucked off
Ghosts.. oh hell no.. it was hilarious.. My cocktail almost came out my nose it was so dang funny!
11 – Kat Dennings is turning 38 in June. It’s not unreasonable to see her as a mom of teens.
correct! thank you for saying that. i rememered a tv special where it was said katey sagal was 34 when she played peggy bundy in married with children and kelly and bud were teens from the first season
I think some people are surprised she is 38.
21. Controversial opinion but I found the 09’ Melrose Place reboot enjoyable. The new characters were dynamic, the noir tone was intriguing, and I liked the way they interwove the OG characters without oversaturating them into the story (outside of Sydney dying again). It was one of the few CW series at the time for adults. But a new reboot has promise, especially if it dives into the twisted, campy fun that made MP such an iconic watch.
Katie Cassidy slayed it. Love her
9, Maybe a bit.
15 – The Good Doctor — AMEN!!! Not closing the ER was ridiculous! Unless the endgame is that hospital gets shut down at the end of the season/series for gross negligence and malpractice. And, I thought the same thing about that mug too…ridiculous that the photo existed and even more ridiculous that Asher made it but was still holding onto it.
It’s a TV show. Get over it …..
26. Not any more than the original “too blue” phrase for departing ghosts.
Please let’s STOP have reality people from one show become semi-pro contestants on many of them!
Used to be if you were on one game show, you could not be on another for a required amount of time.
They’re 15 minutes of fame end when their one show does. This goes for ALL of them.
3. Oh that was dumb. But she had multiple problems that was going to end in her not making it. I guess it is best for the story having her die. But I wanted her to survive.
10. Every thing he inserts himself in is painful. Including his interviews with guests. I still watch if it is a guest I am interested in, but cringe everytime Jimmy says “That’s what I’m talking about” – not a fan.
26. Ghost terminology is fine. It was extremely awkward for Jay having a poltergeist attached to him. It was funny. But from my ghost lore I can’t believe poltergeists can choose to attach and unattach at will, even if it is “painful”
Agreed that it was funny for Jay to have a poltergeist….he went to the library so he would seem like an interesting person!!! Hilarious.
I agree on a all three of your points! Especially the second one about #10. I occasionally watch for the guest but the less of him inserted into stuff, the better.
You’re right. Poltergeists don’t attach to people or things. They’re not spirits. They are physical manifestations of a person’s intense emotional energy. If they exist at all, that is. But Ghosts is a fantasy TV show, and that interpretation resulted in a funny story.
21. I know it was a failure, but the 2009 Melrose Place really had a stellar cast that I enjoy in new projects. Also would this reincarnation just ignore the 2009 project, because Amanda, Sydney and Jo all showed up in the 2009 version.
My guess is that they would ignore it, although I agree it was better than it was given credit for, with Katie Cassidy in particular a standout (something Arrow – which initially wasted her – eventually realized).
I had to google “Heroes reborn” to check if it was the real visual. I don’t remember it was with Zachary Levy and Ryan Guzman! (I only remember vaguely the storyline about the twin kids of the “dead immortal” cheerleader) The first season of the first serie Heroes was amazing. It sadly didn’t last, and the reboot was awful, please no more reboot.
The last two episodes of “Ghosts” were not has good as all the others, I’m a little worried for the rest of the season.
Yes I feel really old about Kate Dennings casting (but she’s actually 4 years older than Brianne Howey who play the mother in Ginny and Georgia (and 2 years older than me who don’t have kids, but nobody cares))
17 – I also noticed how they referred to the picture as “Grandma Rose”. Roseanne hated being called “Rose”… especially since Dan had it tattooed on his arm at one point.
8. Team Stephanie, all the way! I thought Alyssa was good TV, but she solidified her snake status the second she tried selling out Aron to Rob. She’d be phenomenal on The Traitors.
10. The entire Tonight Show would be better if Fallon didn’t insert himself/ turn everything into a bit all episode, every episode.
And don’t get me started on Password…
Fallon seriously overestimates his singing ability. It’s cringeworthy.
Lawdy yes. Jimmy Fallon is soooooo annoying lately. I don’t watch his show or any others he inserts himself in. He’s not funny.
26. Ghosts–not to mention the seriously hot and seriously funny lap dances, and the implications of the poltergeist attachments. The show hasn’t really ever been a family show–remember Hetty and the washing machine? Love it as such.
This. I love that they just went for it and leaned full on into the risque this episode. That entire scene with I saac and the stripper was amazing.
Jenkins on Nigel. So wrong. The stripper being a dinosaur expert, so right. And he danced for the chair really well.
Ghosts: Really? This is a show that had Hetty cry “Let me ride you while you get sucked off!”, to her former maid who was returning to heaven. One of the great joys of Ghosts is that they use words that we think of as sexual in completely non-sexual contexts.
11. NO
26. NO worst than sucking off
I’m laughing at the idea that your downvote is because someone doesn’t understand the last part of 26 which makes the joke even funnier.
Fire country Parents could drop off clothes
Will Trent. Of course. Psycho maybe dad said as much
Survivor. Venus. Still on the fence.
Good Doctor. Security camera? Asher could get them!
Sheldon. Relatives come and go on sitcoms
Conners. Real family must have ok’d the picture
20 – Abbott Elem – Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about Barb using AI. Even Melissa using it is a bit of a stretch. Maybe it’s just me, but this season’s writing seems lazier. I’m actually finding myself enjoying Not Dead Yet more than Abbott. I used to just watch Not Dead Yet while waiting for Abbott to start. This season, I think it’s the better show. Just my opinion, of course. But, I definitely agree that Barb using AI is totally out of character on so many levels. Besides struggling with tech, I think she would think it kind of like cheating to send the message as if it were her own.
The thing here is that AI is used to avoid a task that she thinks is terrible. She’d learn that because of how helpful it is.
.
Maybe it is just me, but I’ve begun to notice that parents, family members, and older friends/neighbors seem to have real trouble picking up new tech that doesn’t immediately provide a benefit to them. If some new tech helps them avoid a task they hate, or it makes easer a task they really relish, then they pick up that new tech incredibly quickly. Like kids in chemistry class, they just don’t try hard to learn it.
I love GHOSTS. My fave sitcom. But this most recent “poltergeist” episode almost embarrassed me to watch. Overall, the whole thing was too blatantly sexual, especially during the bachelor parties and with almost everything that Alberta said or did during this episode. I hope this is not a trend of the show. I watch for entertainment, not for cringe.
Excellent point. As bachelor parties have traditionally been pure and chaste affairs with nothing even remotely risque about them, the GHOSTS folks should be quite ashamed of portraying them as such. I’m sure you can expect a clear statement of repentance and an apology tour post-haste.
prude
Question 26. No. Parents should monitor their children, not TV.
They’ve had the term “sucked off” from near the beginning, not to mention a character without pants, among many other things, so it’s also not like the “blue” is out of nowhere either.
3) Lurching forward was awful but a funeral takes time to plan and he has family that could have shopped for him and brought him clothes.
10) Anything is better without Jimmy Fallon.
19) Of course she has a great shot at winning! ( Don’t get the social media army after you! ;) )
20) I did at first but shrugged it off when Melissa said Ava showed her, and she shoed Barbara. Jacob saying a student’s bad grade out loud in front of his classmates was LESS believable and more irksome to me.
Ghosts -good grief, American television regularly has people getting shot up and blown up in the 8pm time slot, but sexual innuendo is too much?
2) In the past when he’s been stuck at HQ because of injury or whatever, he’s really chafed. I can definitely see him not wanting to do that on a permanent basis. What surprised me is nobody even suggested he become a *teacher*, either at SWAT school or at the LA police academy; that seems like it would have been a really good fit.
