Now that Captain Wagner has shared his suspicions with Elsbeth‘s titular lawyer about his possibly corrupt friend/colleague, Lieutenant Noonan, viewers can expect even more surprising reveals as the hit CBS series wraps up its first season (airing Thursdays at 10/9c).
In the May 23 finale, titled “A Fitting Finale,” there are “a lot of twists and turns and a lot of revelations that are going to come to the light,” star Carra Patterson, who plays Officer Kaya Blanke, told TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett at CBS’ fall schedule reveal party last Thursday.
Plus, as has become the show’s signature style, the episode will feature “some amazing guest stars, André De Shields and Laura Benanti, and some fun fashion,” Patterson shares.
The stylish ensembles are no doubt part of the episode’s Case of the Week, in which “an unlikable fashion photographer is murdered in the middle of a fashion show,” per the official synopsis. “Elsbeth and the team suspect the killer to be either the photographer’s college ex — and leading model of the show — or her jealous husband.”
The clothing aspect of the storyline even got actor Wendell Pierce (aka Wagner) got excited: “The fashion in the last episode, I predict, will be a line of products. It will be branded the Elsbeth line,” Pierce enthused.
Elsewhere in the finale, “Elsbeth’s role at the precinct is thrown into question,” the synopsis reveals.
As for potential Good Wife/Good Fight guest stars, leading lady Carrie Preston has another lawyer in mind should Elsbeth ever need help.
“I think because the show is so different from those other two shows, we’re kind of enjoying having our own universe of New York characters,” Preston begins, before adding, “However, if I were to pick — and I’m not in charge, I wish I was — but I would say it would be really cool to have Alicia Florrick come back. It would be really fun to see that because they had such a fun friendship. So that would be cool to see Elsbeth and Alicia. Maybe she needs some advice or something like that.”
Elsbeth fans, hit the comments with your hopes for the finale!
I like Elsbeth. But if I had to choose between this show and Todd, it would have been Todd, hands down.
And I feel the same because this show has CSI Vegas’s slot from last season, and I would choose CSI over Elsbeth every time.
Elsbeth has potential but she figures out too quickly who did it and things just fall into place too easily for the bad guy or girl to get their comeuppance. I wish it was more like Columbo.
I miss when CBS Sunday included comedies and programs like Trapper John MD. Elsbeth reminds me of shoes from that era. I like it a lot. Thought it paired well woth Todd. Smart and fun series.
I can’t wait to watch Elsbeth. Great show!! Good actors and it’s fun to watch.
We’re big fans of Elsbeth.
I’ve liked Elsbeth since the Good Wife. I hope the show allows her to visit the courtroom every now and then. Would love to see a few Good Wife characters appear like Cary Agos, Kalinda Sharma and, of course, Alicia Florrick.
I’m relieved to read that the Elsbeth finale is the week after the L&O shows end the season. I would watch OC over this show but would be super-sad to miss Laura Benanti in primetime. Glad I’ll be able to catch both!
I would LOVE to see Elsbeth verbally spare with Jennifer Tilly. The thought just gives me the tingles!
I like Elsbeth, it would be a great 90 minute 10 episode series. But some kudos to the supporting cast. Love her “assistant” and the Captain, they really add to the show.
I feel like they’re trying too hard to make Elsbeth “quirky” and “unique” when on the other two shows, they didn’t try so hard. They’ve really amped up the “quirky” factor on this one, to an almost cartoonish level. Also, my choice for a GW guest star would be Eli Gold.
I love Elsbeth! Such a quirky character! Reminds me of Columbo in so many ways but even better.
I’d love to see Christine Baranski or Alan Cumming make a guest appearance
I love this show! Carrie and Carra and Wendell are amazing! Best TV hour of the week!
