House of the Dragon’s Bethany Antonia, Harry Collett Weigh In: Can Baela and Jace’s Affection Survive Rhaenyra and Daemon’s Rift? Watch

Warning: This post contains spoilers for House of the Dragon Episode 3.

House of the Dragon‘s Baela Targaryen is a little bit of a badass, no?

In Sunday’s episode, Bethany Antonia‘s character had Ser Criston Cole, Ser Gwayne Hightower and a few more soldiers riding hell for leather for the forest when they saw her and her dragon, Moondancer, approaching. The teen’s unflinching sense for battle made her seem more like Daemon’s daughter than ever before, a dragonrider who’s an asset for Rhaenyra’s side. (Read a full recap.)

The episode also saw Rhaenyra order Baela to stay behind at Dragonstone while Rhaena and the other children were sent away to safety. All of this came, of course, in the aftermath of Rhaenyra and Daemon’s savage argument in last week’s hour. So when TVLine sat down with Antonia and Harry Collett, who plays Jacaerys, we wondered how their parents’ fight might affect the affectionate young couple’s allegiances.

“That’s a very good question,” Collett says in the video above. “I don’t think we know the full length of what’s going on between them, because Daemon is definitely not going to talk about it to Baela, and Rhaenyra definitely isn’t going to speak about it to Jace.”

Antonia points out, though, that the fact that Jace and Baela enjoy spending time with each other outside of court is something the characters “really cherish” and that those moments of friendship were something she and Collett enjoyed filming in Season 2.

Press PLAY on the video above to hear the actors go deeper on their character’s betrothal (which, Collett points out, was arranged but “not like, I don’t know, Aegon-and-Helaena forced”) and what lies ahead. Then hit the comments with your thoughts!
