NCIS‘ Special Agent Jessica Knight and Dr. Jimmy Palmer will have some hard decisions to make in the Season 21 finale, airing this Monday at 9/8c on CBS.
In the season ender titled “Reef Madness,” Knight (played by Katrina Law) and Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) discover three bodies aboard an old Navy ship that’s about to be sunk and turned into an artificial reef — and then are suddenly locked inside by a mysterious figure.
But before that high drama hits, NCIS Director Vance will present Knight with a unique opportunity, one that will prove to be a “crossroads” for the agency’s rising star.
Speaking with TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett on Thursday night at CBS’ fall schedule reveal party, Rocky Carroll, who plays Vance, said that Knight finds herself “at a crossroads, both professionally and personally” in Monday’s finale, when Vance presents her with the aforementioned career move.
Jimmy, in turn, “is now realizing that whatever this is they’ve had” on the romantic front, “it may come to an end,” Carroll previews.
In the video above, Dietzen and Law themselves give a sense of the angst to come.
“Ever since Knight forgot to introduce Palmer to her father, there have been some issues that have been happening off-screen,” Law shares. “I think both of them have been doing some soul searching to figure out what direction they would like to go — and if they’re go to be going in the same direction at the same time.”
“There’s some bubbling. There’s some stuff bubbling to the surface,” Dietzen affirms.
Will Jess’ matters of the heart and career get some sort of closure before NCIS heads into summer hiatus?
“By the time we get to the end of this episode, Special Agent Knight is going to have to make some hard decisions,” Rocky Carroll affirms, “and the audience should stand by, because you’ll get those answers.”
In addition to any Jimmy/Jess drama, Dietzen enthuses that the season finale finds “people’s lives in danger, there is some action, there’s wonderful stunt work, amazing sets… It’s not one to be missed.”

Have not watched since they have that guy from the 70’s show on, horrible actor, IMPO..
If you haven’t watched in 8 seasons, then how can you make the statement that he’s a horrible actor?
I din’t say he’s a bad actor, but WV is so unlikable, on or off camera, that I can’t care about his characters.
Still cannot believe they canceled NCIS Hawaii. It was a great show and those “suits” at CBS are Idiots!
As long as this “hard decisions” mean Katrina Law will be back next season and the first relationship between two regulars being honored & well written (breakup or continued) I’m good and excited for the next season.
Could they have been setting up a possible NCIS: Far East spin off for next season? But the strike put some of those plans on hold story-wise, though they still cancelled NCIS Hawaii.
Oh for christs sake – give Jimmy a break. He deserves happiness after losing his wife during COVID and Ducky this season.
My key concern is that they Do Not Cancel NCIS Hawaii. The show is way too good & the writers & actors are wonderful.
Regarding Jessica’s chance for promotion,
I hope she stays put.
Locked inside an old navy ship about to be sunk.
Shades of original Magnum PI episode
I hope that Jess turns down the job in Japan and stays put. I can see her and Jimmy getting married next season. Can’t wait until this coming Monday!
To each their own, of course, but I can’t think of a more boring couple than Jimmy and Knight. How in the world Jimmy Palmer has become the show’s romantic lead will never fail to confuse and amaze me.
I like the character Jessica in NCIS. I hope she doesn’t leave. It was nice to watch the relationship of Palmer and Jessica.
I agree. Jimmy has lost a lot on the show. Agent Lee who was a mole, wife, ducky, sand the list of the writers goes on with no end in sight. Could Knight be next. I hope not. Don’t know why they continue to pick on Palmer. Getting old. Hope things work out and they stay together.
Law will probably leave like alway like most shows you find some really good actors. And you just can’t keep them if she leaves I’ll stop watching I really enjoy the show
OMG I would be beyond sad if Katrina Law aka Jessica Knight was not coming back! LOVE her as an actress and LOVE her on NCIS!!! Please, please, she needs to stay and love the whole cast…. they all fit together. Love all the iterations of NCIS over time, but it is Way Too Soon to lose Jessica Knight in DC.
One thing to me it was very depressing. If this continues, it Will be the end of NCIS for me
Why does this keep happening McGee is the only one to escape the writers Doom as far as relationships are considered. They can’t really think this is going to be good for the shows future
