New Station 19 showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige have six words for those of us who were perturbed by the Season 7 premiere hookup that seemed to doom one of the show’s couples: It ain’t over till it’s over. (Warning: Spoilers ahead.)
Though Travis is happily canoodling with former campaign manager Eli, Thursday’s “This Woman’s Work” ended with the firefighter comforting ex-lover Emmett over dad Dixon’s death. Sounds innocent enough, right? But soon, one thing (kind words) led to another (a tender embrace), and before we knew what was happening, the former boyfriends were tearing off one another’s clothes. Does the tryst mean that Travis and Eli are finished just when they were getting started?
Not necessarily. Clack suggests that the romp may have less to do with unfinished business between the old flames and more to do with Travis’ “arc in general. It’s the beginning of him finding himself. On that journey, it’s one little step for him.”
One little step away from Eli, it seems. Paige doesn’t see it that way. “There are all kinds of relationships, and there are different kinds of rules to different relationships,” he notes. “So there are certainly ways of navigating things that are not absolute or black-and-white.”

Seeing the Tremmett-scene kinda reminded me of the Vic / Jack-kiss: both in mourning & it just happened. That doesn’t justifies the cheating, but I wasn’t surprised it happened, also because Travis and Emmett already have this (complicated) history.
But it sounds like Travis will end up without either Eli or Emmett and that might not be a bad thing – for all 3 involved.
I truly can’t stand Eli. He’s so smarmy. Travis/Emmett all the way. Get them back together, show.
I just want to see Travis find something that makes him feel alive again. Losing his husband really took him out, and he’s never really fully recovered. I don’t know if he’s ever completely let himself believe it’s possible to feel that way again about anyone else. Not really. I love Emmett. He’s wholesome and adorable. Granted, Emmett has also been yanked around… ALOT by Travis. This would have been a full-season arch that could have played out to something meaningful for both of them.
It’s frustrating because the only reason Travis and Emmett had that weird ending last time was because Lachlan Buchanan was cast in a new show – that show only got one season so Lachlan is free now. But the writers should have never created Emmetts mess of an ending because it complicates a reunion. It was pretty clear before that that Emmett was going to be the guy Travis would finally be happy with.
Predatory behaviour from Travis takind advantage of a grieving Emmett
Disappointed in Travis.
Stop cheating.
One or the other.
Literally no one cares about Eli. He’s by far the worst love interest Travis has had.
Glad Emmet is back. His scenes with Travis are always hot & intense. Eli is plain boring! Not sure why this has to be the last season but if it is then let Emmet & Travis find lasting happiness !
clearly im the only one who feels like travis just never really loved emmett. he expressed in the past that he wasn’t in love with him. i think it’s fine to have deep feelings for someone and not be with them. their relationship was so tumultuous and inconsistent, id be happy to see him give eli a real shot as opposed to trying emmett again for what will now be the fourth or fifth time, honestly.
