Will Thursday’s Young Sheldon mark the last time we see the titular brainiac and his twin sister? Or is it just so-long for now?
As the Powers That Be ready Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the question on everyone’s mind is whether the rest of the Cooper clan will make appearances alongside Montana Jordan and Emily Osment on the multi-camera comedy. On Wednesday, TVLine broke the news that Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones will reprise their roles as Jim and Audrey McAllister, but there’s been no official word on whether Iain Armitage (Sheldon), Raegan Revord (Missy), Zoe Perry (Mary) or Annie Potts (Meemaw) will appear on the spinoff — though that’s certainly the hope.
“I think, certainly, the characters in the world of Young Sheldon still exist in this world,” executive producer Steve Holland previously told TVLine. “They’re still around and can make appearances and drop by” — but do they want to drop by?
“If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’d be honored to,” Iain Armitage tells TVLine. “I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.
“It’s going to be so fun to see,” the 15-year-old says of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. “Montana and Miss Emily are both so funny and so talented, and they play off each other so well. They’re very contrasting characters… and I love them together so much.”
Revord, meanwhile, is less certain that she’ll play Missy again. “I’m not sure,” she says. “I mean, if Young Sheldon had gotten more seasons, I would have 10,000% signed on to do more. But now that it’s over, I’m also kind of excited to see what else is out there and try different things. Something dramatic would be a lot of fun.” The 16-year-old is also penning her debut novel, Rules for Fake Girlfriends, due out in Fall 2025.
“I mean, I’m definitely going to go to the tapings. I have to go annoy Montana,” Revord says with a laugh. “I’ll be cheering on Montana and Emily from the sidelines.”
Young Sheldon’s one-hour series finale airs Thursday, May 16 at 8/7c on CBS (and streams next day on Paramount+).
I want to see a Sheldon in Cal-Tech spin-off starring Iain Armitage (on CBS, not streaming). Raegan Revord will be missed from the Georgie and Mandy spin-off, but I get wanting to move on.
There is a difference between moving on and showing up once or twice a season for a holiday episode or a special episode.
Raegan Revord should be willing to make guest appearances especially when she said she will be going to the tapings.
The role of Missy made Raegan Revord’s career. Before being cast, she barely had a career. Any future roles will be because of her fame from Young Sheldon.
This is an odd and insulting take of a child’s career. Of course she barely had a career before YS, she was what, 8 years old when it started?!
She is free to do whatever she wants going forward and she surely doesn’t need to rely on this universe.
I agree with you. It is her life, her choice. She is a minor. No one online should be telling her or anyone else what to do, or what jobs to take.
As children grow and becoming adults, on that path, most of them are allowed to start making their own decisions. Perhaps with a little guidance, but still they have some say in the decision making process.
Maybe things work out, maybe they don’t. It is a heck of a lot easier recovering from making poor decisions as a child. As an adult it is a heck of a lot harder recovering from poor decision making if they have never had to deal with recovering from poor decision making as a child.
There WAS a VERY POPULAR SHOW about Sheldon at Cal Tech. IT WAS CALLED ” THE BIG BANG THEORY”. Have you ever heard of it?
He was in Cali for years before TBBT’s timeline, he isn’t a student there when the show begins
Wrong!
He isn’t a student in Big Bang..
I would certainly hope that her other grandma (Mary), would get to stop by once in a while.
I would have liked to have seen not only Memaw stay but also George, I could have easily overlooked that big bang said he was dead a long time ago, I never watched that show anyway. But what is done is done I guess. just make it a dream and bring him back him and Memaw both had a lot of character and was very good on the show. Sheldon and Mary have become very boring the past couple of years. Memaw, George, Georgie and Missie kept it going.
George died at the end of last week’s second episode. :-(
I loved them all on the show, I hope they come back even as guest host, especially lain , saw him this morning on Kelly and mark and he’s still as cute as ever and such a nice person, good luck to all of them.
Missy really made the show for me.
I loved all the characters and plot of Young Sheldon. I hope you’ll
be airing reruns of all of them forever! They are family to me…..and I will
miss them.
The spin off won’t make it if beloved characters are not part of the show. Young Sheldon worked because everyone played off of each other.
Meemaa is the greatest. She is the show!
Would love to see Meemaw, Missy and Mary occasionally
Awesome
I certainly hope to see ALL the cast members return. Young Sheldon was such a great show. I was very emotional at the closing feeling like a close friend died with George. Please bring back the cast.
Great show in the spinoff is just going to probably depend on where they started out at is it going to be starting out right where it left off in young Sheldon? If they do that I don’t see how they cannot have missing in it so I really doubt that’s what they’re going to do just so they don’t have to rely on that. I think it’ll be a good show I’m excited to watch it. Hopefully nothing happens to make me cry like the ending of young Sheldon dead even though I knew that was going to happen all along because I was a big bang theory fan and I knew that was coming we will see I think it’s going to focus on more how he takes over Missy’s dad’s tire shop and makes it into his franchise that he has later on we always knew he was an entrepreneur and I think he’s going to do well
I do hope this story takes off, we need some good family TV programs, and what not better to continue off with the some of the cast from “Young Sheldon” looking forward to it when it comes on and a new family to follow!
As a big fan of TBBT and Young Sheldon, I would hope to see characters from both shows somehow find their way into guest appearances on the new show. I am confident the writes can find a way given how great they were on the first two shows. They were able to gradually shift the focus from just Sheldon to other cast members and develop them to the point where they became pivotal characters with interesting story lines of their own. They can certainly continue to insert former cast members and introduce new ones as well. I will be watching.
