Warning: We’re about to break down the penultimate episode of 9-1-1 Season 7. And trust us, you don’t want to get spoiled.

It’s no secret that 9-1-1 loves to blindside viewers with a devastating pre-finale cliffhanger, but we were in no way prepared for the absolute gut punch that brought Thursday’s episode to its sudden, heart-stopping conclusion.

Captain Bobby Nash, the fearless leader of the 118, appeared to suffer a heart attack after rescuing Athena from their burning home. The hour ended in chaos, with paramedics frantically responding to the fallen hero, though it was unclear if their rescue efforts were successful.

As if Bobby needed more wife- and/or fire-related trauma in his life, the blaze was indeed his fault. After attempting to apologize to his dad in a dream, Bobby’s father replied: “I was supposed to save you, kid. Now you have to save yourself.” Cut to Bobby waking up in his burning living room.

Earlier in the hour, Bobby caught Athena off guard with his decision to resign from the 118. Concerned that her husband might be getting his affairs in order, so to speak, Athena reached out to Amir for help, but that only created more tension between the spatting spouses. He said he never wanted his past to affect their marriage, but according to Athena, that ship has sailed. (Sorry, is it too soon to make ship jokes about these two?)

9-1-1 has hinted at Bobby’s exit on multiple occasions over the years, but something feels different about this latest instance. His potential death aside, we basically got a farewell montage in which he made sure that the 118 will be able to carry on without him.

Do you think Bobby’s days with the 118 are really over? Are you worried that he may not even live long enough to make that decision? Read on for more of this week’s must-discuss moments, then drop a comment with your hopes for next week’s finale below.
