HONORABLE MENTION: Patricia Arquette

In High Desert‘s penultimate episode, Patricia Arquette continued to radiate as a well-intentioned, kinda-sorta recovering addict who can’t help playing with fire. The actress deftly embodied Peggy’s quick wit and bulls–t artistry while dealing with her unpredictable bosses and a crime family she wronged. Despite the character’s unique blend of craftiness and unreliability, the actress grounded the hustler and forced us to root for her. But when a near-death experience and a phone call from her estranged son sent her into a tailspin, Peggy called out for her dead mom, as she rubbed her tear-soaked face all over the deceased’s clothing. Even though she’s reaped everything she sowed, we couldn’t help but empathize with her struggles and loss. Arquette was simply that compelling.
Nancy and Ace completely broke me this episode. You aren’t wrong about Kennedy & Alex’s chemistry.
I call them “Ancy”, ’cause of all the pent-up energy.
Maitreyi was really great in never have I ever. Hope she keeps getting amazing jobs after this show. Will definitely miss this show.
That Nace kiss montage! The way Ace’s voice broke when he told Nancy he couldn’t go forward and it hurt too much. We’ve already rewatched those scenes more times than I can count. The CW are fools to cancel this incredibly show. But I’m at least happy the actors and writers are leaving us with scenes we’ll never forget.
Yep, they were both great.
No Ethan Peck? That’s a crime, because he was stellar in the season premiere of Star Trek SNW.
Demon 79 was a masterpiece, impending doom never looked so hopeful, nor defeat looked so victorious. It was the very best episode I’ve ever seen.
