The new year got off to a rough start for over a dozen TV series and their fans, who were greeted with the news that some of their favorite shows had been cancelled.
In fact, January alone saw the Grim Reaper bring down his axe on 17 comedies and dramas, ranging from cult fave Doom Patrol to the Gossip Girl revival-boot to a long-running drama that’s now in need of a new home for its swan song. And in the case of Netflix’s Inside Job, AMC’s 61st Street and AMC+’s Pantheon, even getting picked up for another season didn’t keep those shows safe from getting un-renewed.
After tallying up this month’s casualties, it might surprise you to learn that Netflix was one of two streamers to tie for Most Cancelled Shows in January, followed closely by Peacock, AMC and Showtime.
Note, we did not include the following in our roundup of January cancellations: projects that were scrapped before they ever got a chance to make it to air (like Peacock’s Dead Day and AMC’s Demascus); shows that announced they would be ending (NCIS: Los Angeles, Mayans MC, Fear the Walking Dead, Outlander, Mo); and reality series that got axed (Rat in the Kitchen, Jay Leno’s Garage).
Review the list of cancelled series below (listed in order of axing), then vote in the poll at the bottom to tell us which demise hurt the most!

Actually … “none” of them !!!
Same here…none of these!
Agree. I think this is the first time I have ever looked at a list of shows and never watched a single one.
Me too. I watch A LOT of TV and I watch none of these.
Same here. Never heard of them, never saw them and really don’t want to!
Same. Never watched any of them.
That’s my answer!
Titans is the only show on that list I watch
I’ve never even HEARD of any of them
I personally will very much miss 2 shows –
NCIS – LA, and Snowpiercer.
I have been watching both shows since they started and would love to continue seeing what happens to the people I care about.
And I don’t understand why TNT can’t air the final season of Snowpiercer. That just shows how little they care about their audience. So why should we care about them.
I would have watched another season of 61st street. The season/series finale of Snowpiercer was sufficient. It was getting kind of stale.
Uncoupled, as it had a popular star, and had a promising premise. There was buzz but… Snowpiercer seemed strong too. A victim of corporate politics, I think. Most of these shows are unfamiliar to me but from reading bits, I question the long-term viability of the concepts.
You mean has popular stars Tisha Campbell, Marcia Gay Harden & Tuc Watkins.
I agree what you’re saying
Gossip Girl. This version was so good.
Titans and Doom Patrol at the same time was really annoying, but not unexpected…I’m bummed about Inside Job, loved that show…funny as hell..’heartbreaking’? None of them…The last show I was emotionally attached to was Firefly and that was the final straw in my gen x soul to care that much…shows will get cancelled…just how it goes…
DC projects do seem to be doomed this days, so yeah not a surprise. A little disappointed with Doom Patrol, but I do think it’s started to meander about the last couple of seasons. And Titans was always rather low rent for the stories they tried to tell. Too expensive to film for a non-prestige series.
And sigh, Firefly…
As you can probably tell, I’m still bothered by that…
Snowpiercer and Titans are the only two I watch, and since Snowpiercer will likely find an outlet for this final season, I voted for Titans (which had so much more in terms of a future)!
Will also miss NCIS:LA and Jay Leno’s Garage, but those may be in different polls…
I went with Snowpiercer as its final season has been filmed but they decided not to air it… a waste. Titans & Doom Patrol or Vampire Academy for that matter had no guarantee of renewal but the senseless decision not to air the final season of Snowpiercer is ridiculous.
1899 really hurt
The rest I don’t really care about tbh
What was Netflix thinking! This has the makings of a cult show for the ages!
Snowpiercer. I don’t watch any of the others.
Uncoupled will be missed, I loved the show!
Uncoupled will be on showtime and oh if you didn’t get to watch it the first time a good limited series coming to showtime with the sequel to Waco coming now to showtime is Waco it’s very good
Doom Patrol and Titans.
Titans for sure but it was expected.
i miss NCIS New Orleans.
other then that. Doom Patrol + Titans.
Why were they ever on to begin with !
No
Loss
Not sure Snowpiercer belongs on this list as it was cancelled a long time ago. Call me an optimist but I’m pretty confident the already filmed final season will air somewhere, so I consider this a delay rather than a cancellation. Huge fan of the show, fwiw.
Uncoupled, Titans, and Vampire Academy.
Titans was my number 2, Doom Patrol was 3 although it was getting a bit lost in the story lines. 1899 was good, but a bit hard to follow with only one viewing. Love the first 2 seasons of Snowpiercer but it seemed they were milking it for all they could get after that. There were other shows not mentioned here that will be missed much more.
Stumptown
Agree
1899 was phenomenal!! Unfortunately, Netflix released it the week before Wednesday started, and it promoted the hell out of Wednesday and ignored 1899. Terrible! What a great show!
it’s a crime it was cancelled!
NCIS Los Angeles.
Never saw a single episode of any of them.
Uncoupled was the only one I watched. I loved it and was very surprised and totally bummed to hear of its cancellation.
Me too!
So we’ll never know what Colin (Tuc Watkins) meant by his final statement about thinking he made a mistake.
Wait why is Let the Right One In on the poll now? Oh nooo!!! I wanna change my vote, I was really looking forward to season 2.
Too many people don’t even know the show exists. It was poorly marketed. Would’ve done much better on Netflix or Amazon Prime. And the creators actually do own the rights, so they can shop it around, don’t hold your breath but a streaming comeback is at least possible.
Of these, I watched ‘1899’, ‘Doom Patrol’, ‘Titans’, ‘Vampire Academy’ and ‘Let The Right One In’, and would have continued to watch them, given the chance. Having said that, I don’t think any of these cancellations are quite heartbreaking, though would single out ‘LTROI’ as the most deserving (creatively) of another season, closely followed by ‘1899’.
Oh, hang on, where’s Carnival Row? Now that loss is heartbreaking.
