HONORABLE MENTION: Angela Bassett
From now on, “the thing” that Angela Bassett did was Thursday’s 9-1-1 finale, which showcased the actress’ full range as Athena Grant hunted down the man she believed was responsible for putting her husband in the hospital. She began the hour in a palpable spiral of guilt and grief, blaming herself for letting a supposed arsonist into their home, before converting those emotions into fuel for revenge. Her speech to Amir about hiding in plain sight after losing a loved one was devastating, every word weighted with a gravity befitting the situation. And when she introduced herself to the cartel as “Mrs. Bobby Nash,” we got instant goosebumps. The fact that the episode then gave Bassett a little Waiting to Exhale moment was merely the icing on the cake. That woman really knows how to work a flame. — Andy Swift
Picking Hannah Einbinder is truly deserved. She went toe to toe with Jean Smart and actually surpassed her!
Gosh, how I am going to miss Station 19. Not only was Barrett Doss on her A game, but the entire cast took us on one hell of a last ride.
Hannah Einbinder absolutely slayed the scene we’ve been waiting three seasons for! Bravo!
I’ve been going back from the beginning of Hacks after watching the season 3 finale/twist. And it is crazy how much Ava has evolved after working with Deborah and putting up with her sh$t all this time.
It finally paid off. I was shocked at what I was seeing with the blackmail, Hannah was playing a new version of Ava.
👏 👏 👏
Also, Angela Bassett. Get it, gurl.
But did anyone else think she would get (at a minimum) reprimanded for her actions?
In all the fanfare about Station 19’s final season, it feels like Josh Randall’s Sean Beckett is getting overlooked. Beckett’s story arc on this series was phenomenal. His journey back from addiction was handled with grace and tenderness. And his Station 19 co-workers journeyed with him to become family. All season long. I marveled at his integration back into the Station 19 ecosystem. Applause for the writers, and nothing but appreciation for Josh Randall.
The writers and Josh Randall deserve much credit for taking such a terrible person and redeeming him in such a great way. I especially appreciated his friendship with Vic.
Totally agree, totally underrated as both an actor and character.
In Station 19, Ben made gumbo and Jack made Dean’s chili
Yes, PLL! Bailee Maddison was on my list for this week. I’d also say Sonequa Martin Green for the finale of Star Trek Discovery deserves a mention.
Had a feeling Angela Bassett would make the list. Also have to say Ryan Guzman broke my heart when Eddie said goodbye to Chris. I’d like to see “Under the Bridge” someday – great cast in general, and that sounds like amazing material for Archie.
Under the Bridge was phenomenal, and Archie’s performance in particular absolutely wrecked me. Definitely worth the watch.
Hannah Einbinder probably just earned her first Emmy win.
Angela Bassett for sure. Riveting
I just watched Station 19. Although I hate to see it end I thought it was very well done. Jumping forward in everyone’s lives giving us a glimpse of how their lives turn out was great. I lost it when I realized it was Dean standing on the stage with Vic. Well done Station 19 you will be missed!!
