HONORABLE MENTION: Vondie Curtis-Hall
Justified: City Primeval‘s Sweety was given a lot to chew on this week, and Vondie Curtis-Hall in turn enjoyed his best scenes yet. Heading into Episode 4, Sweety had a plan to parlay the murder weapon he had found stashed in his bar into A) overdue punishment for Mansell’s myriad crimes and B) immunity for himself. But when Mansell clued his cohort-of-sorts into Judge Guy’s little black book, Sweety’s wheels got turning. Curtis-Hall conveyed a cool, newfound pragmatism as Sweety suggested to Carolyn that this book’s secrets about Detroit power players represents “the keys to the city” — one of which might get her the judgeship she covets. Later, when Mansell aimed to cement a partnership, Sweety presented himself as well-wooed, remarking, “This is a nice view” as he regarded the skyline from Mansell’s digs. How does Sweety plan to get what’s due him and take down Mansell? Curtis-Hall’s nuanced, engaging performance has us curious/worried to find out!
Heartstopper was so special. I was waiting for something terrible to happen – particularly with Ben. Won’t be surprised if it opens next season with that. 💔
Spoiler! But Ben is done on the show, Netflix posted an exit interview with the actor and Alice Oseman saying as much and wishing the actor a great future.
The chemistry between Joe Locke and Kit Connor is so exceptional that I’m hoping they wind up like those Old Hollywood studio couples and work together again (and again). Just incredible work they do together at 18 and 19.
Kit Connor, Joe Locke and William Gao on the same week!!! Yes!!!
Still feeling salty over the absence of richie for his performance on the bear season 2 as forks was one of the best episodes of tv i’ve seen in a long time.
The trek musical episode was not bad to me but to me celia rose gooding was (and always is) the highlight….she was amazing
The first time I saw Celia Rose Gooding was when the musical Jagged Little Pill was being workshopped in Cambridge. I was waiting all episode for her to get a solo song. I was happy with most of the vocals and loved that Kay Hanley was part of the production.
Heartstopper’s entire season and every actor was a standout so bravo to everyone involved.
i’m glad heartstopper added mr farouk in season 2.
That conversation with the other teacher moved me to tears.
i related to him in many ways.. A queer (probably muslim) who lived his adolescent life not experiencing what nick & charlie has..
Me too. The addition of Mr. Farouk was wonderful. I related so much to his experience and have similar background. Honestly, that scene at the vending machine with the other teacher was a standout of the season for me. I hope they bring him back.
joe and kit’s chemistry is truly astonishing. considering they’re still teens, the way they portrayed such raw emotions, from happiness to love to pain is truly amazing. the way they look at each other like there’s no world around or between them. will gao got so much better in his acting, the love for elle is pouring from tao’s eyes. can’t wait to see more of their stories. ♥️🍂
I find this Yaoi fantasy super creepy. Imagine if a man wrote a lesbian teen love story.
Glad that Celia Rose Gooding was recognized for her performance this week. She really has been shining this season as Uhura, see also Lost in Translation (Episode 4).
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been fire this season.
