Behold, the first footage from Netflix‘s highly anticipated Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Releasing Friday, Dec. 23, the streaming follow-up to the 2019 box office hit finds Daniel Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc “traveling to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects,” according to the official logline. Among the would-be culprits are characters played by Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.
“The phrase I kept coming back to and talking about the first movie is, ‘It’s a roller coaster and not a crossword puzzle,'” writer/director/producer Rian Johnson said in a statement. “It’s a common mistake in writing whodunits, thinking that you’re making a crossword puzzle, and that the fun is that the audience is actually going to analyze all this and figure it out.”
According to Johnson, Blanc’s penchant for bombast is partly to thank for the sequel’s title, which pays homage to the 1968 Beatles song of the same name.
“I’m always fishing for something fun that Blanc can grab onto as an overwrought metaphor that he can beat to death,” Johnson said. “This is all in plain sight from the very start. So, the idea of glass came to me, something that’s clear. I’ll be very honest. I literally got out my iPhone and searched my music library with the word ‘glass.’ There’s got to be some good glass songs. I was like, ‘Oh, is it a glass fortress? Is it a glass castle? Is it a glass man?’ The first thing that came up, because I’m a huge Beatles fan, is ‘Glass Onion.'”

That poster is oddly reminiscent of the “Royal Pains” opening credits lol
Looks like it could be great. Can’t wait.
A teaser in the true sense of the word. Intrigued by the cast and the setting, but I still have no idea who any of these people are or why they are in a weird puzzle house.
Can’t wait. Hope we have many Knives Out movies coming.
Is it true that Edward Norton gets replaced partway through the movie by Mark Ruffalo with no comments from anybody?
*snicker*
I am here to see Bautista in bikini still look so macho.
Really!?
