It’s official: Netflix will return to the world of Peaky Blinders.
Our sister site Deadline reports that production on the as-yet-untitled feature film will get underway later this year. Newly minted Oscar winner Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.
Original series creator Steven Knight penned the script, while Tom Harper, who directed several episodes during Peaky’s first season, will return to helm the movie.
Additional plot details are being kept under wraps. No further casting has been announced as of press time.
Peaky Blinders, which aired for six seasons on Netflix, followed a notorious gang in 1919 Birmingham, England, led by the fierce Tommy Shelby (Murphy), a crime boss set on moving up in the world no matter the cost. The series wrapped up in 2022, but Knight hinted at the time that a movie was in the works: “I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen.”
Murphy, of course, has seen his fame shoot into the stratosphere in the past year after starring as theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the Christopher Nolan film Oppenheimer. The movie was a surprise smash at the box office and earned seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Murphy.

I have watched Pinky Blinders omg loved the characters the story line sad to see it over yes do a movie or more series was very interesting
Sorry peaky
I think it will be a huge success because the mini series was awesome and Cillian was excellent in his role as Tommy I’m just a little sad that so many of the actors that help make Peaky Blinders was killed in the mini series that we want have the opportunity to see them in the movie, but can’t for it to hit the theater. Good luchhI’m hoping that it will be great like the mini series.
Knight needs to stop greenlighting projects before he films Taboo season 2.
Ahh! I see you, too, have been waiting… going on 7 long years… for season 2.
Hurray.
Seasons 1 and 2 were the best — I hope the movie is more like them.
Can’t wait
Really excited for the movie. The Shelby’s were addicting!!!
