TVLINE | D’arcy’s been struggling to figure out her purpose this season. Why’d she take off on such a dangerous solo mission and why is she so desperate for approval?
CHRIS SHERIDAN | D’arcy is insecure at her core, and her whole life, she’s been built to try to get praise from outside, probably because her parents were never really there for her like that. So in a path to always wanting this love and respect from them that she never really got, she’s looking to other people. We know inherently that the real truth is we can only find it from within, but she hasn’t quite learned that yet. She looks for it by, “Oh, I can be a famous Olympic skier and people will love me if I do that,” and that doesn’t work out. She’s feeling very down and sees an opportunity to go on this ship. She’s not 100% sure she’ll come out of it, but at the very least she knows her life won’t be a waste and she will die knowing that she’s loved by everybody. She sees Kate and throws that away to actually do something smaller, but a lot more gigantic as far as self-love goes. She chooses to help Kate find her baby which is something that not only people on Earth will never know about, but even Kate says she’ll never remember this. D’arcy does it anyway and realizes the true definition of heroism, which is doing something for someone whether you get credit for it or not.
When she’s standing with that baby outside of their door and she looks out away from their house, she’s thinking about herself in a different way than she has before. She actually is proud of herself and has found some love within because she did something wonderful for someone. She feels great about herself in a way that she never could’ve if she was only getting praise from other people. Alice [Wetterlund] played it incredibly well. And look, she’s not cured. We all take one step forward and two steps back. But this is the next step forward in her enlightenment as a character where she realizes that true happiness will only come if you love yourself. This is a small step for her towards that.
Darcy couldn’t save het friend being abducted when they were kids camping so to see her at his door decades later after rescuing his baby (a part of him) shows us even if its a loooong game don’t give up hope – good triumphs .
Aww…I didn’t even think of that aspect – I was just thinking about Kate. The Mayor is fabulous, such a likeable character.
This season was very, very good and fun to watch. The last 3 episodes in particular were amazing. I cannot believe Comcast/Universal/Syfy has not ordered more seasons. Crossing my fingers that the Netflix bump and rising overall rating will score them some kind of multi-season order like Rick and Morty, The Walking Dead, The Bear, etc so we aren’t at the mercy of the show being canceled every season. This modern TV landscape sucks.
Resident Alien premiered during the dark days of COVID, when we needed a laugh and relief! The show had my husband and I in stitches. Alan’s performance is so spot on and we were instant fans eagerly waiting for the next episode. All the characters are so well developed, interesting and well played. We tell all our friends to watch Resident Alien, and now that it is on Netflix, more are watching and laughing, too! Resident Alien is the most unique and refreshing show to come along in years. Keep the creative energy flowing. Your number one 72 year old fan!
This is such a fun show and with all the cliffhangers at the end of S3, hope SyFy renews or if not SyFy, then S4 goes to NETFLIX. The showrunners really pick the most appropriate music for each episode and I really like Harry’s observations at the end of each episode. Hopefully, we fans won’t have to wait long to find out if there will be a Season 4 and where it will air.
The finale was so good. I love all of the characters and they are all so much fun to watch. I think Season 3 has been my favorite so far. Come on Syfy, give us a Season 4. It’s just too damned entertaining not to.
I need there to be a season 4 of Resident Alien! I love this show so much.
Fantastic season and even better finale!!!!!!!! There had better be a season 4!!!! Such a funny show and so much heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially loved Harry and the General talking safe spaces and “one of the good ones”….I snorted laughing so hard….can we just have Resident Alien all year round?!
Great show ! Please keep it going!! The sheriff and Liv are my favorite! Yes… Bridget, Max .. okay the whole cast Amazing!!
And I forgot to say-so glad Brigitte is still alive! More baby Alien please!
Loved Resident Alien! I am so glad that Netflix had this on or I might not have known about it. I finished the two seasons and had to watch the third of course and was so happy to find it on Syfy network .
I hope there will be a Fourth season soon ! I have been telling friends and family to watch Resident Alien for a good laugh! Enjoy the acting and story .
Two questions about season 3 finale Homecoming:
1. How did Kate Hawthorne (whose namesake is an author, BTW) get out of her restraint collar and back home to Patience?
2. At the end of the episode, it said In Memory of Kenneth “Kenny” Frost. Who, pray tell, is Kenny Frost? Search came up empty.
Much obliged,
D
Kenny Frost was the “Cultural Consultant” on Seasons 1 & 2 per a Facebook post I found.
Kate was returned by the Greys. Just not shown. Mr. Frost was an indigenous consultant in the show.

He was an ‘authentication consultant’ for the show. He belonged to the UTE Indian bloodline. Sadly, he passed away during Season 3. He was considered FAMILY by the Cast & Crew of Resident Alien. 🦅🪶
Love love love the show!! Keep it up! We were waiting impatiently for season 3, I feel it took way to long between seasons. However , we are hooked
Season 3 was better than season 2!
It felt a little awkward how all of a sudden all the characters were back on earth in their regular spots (Liv in office, Harry and Asta in the diner, Kate back after that collar scene, etc) It definitely felt like some bits were left on the cutting room floor.
That being said I’m still looking forward to a season 4 renewal keeping the upward trend going!
Please keep on, it is an increible show
It’s not often that you find a TV show with both great comedy and compassion. You want to believe there is good in the world and beyond after seeing Resident Alien!
There MUST be a Season 4 after the finale. It would be unfair to viewers not to do so. PLEASE!
I love this show the cast are great and it has the right blend of comedy mixed with some strong character development, cool science fiction action and a general tone that makes you care about this small town and its inhabitants whether they are born and raised there or find themselves there through circumstance.
My husband and I have watched from the beginning, we love all of the quirky characters and questions of believing or not .we want the show to keep going ! R. I.P. Kenny
This is the most creative, funny show I have ever seen, and I look forward to each episode. It just must be renewed. All the actors are excellent and they each bring such a collective and cohesive unity to the show. It is the best series ever!
So glad S3 got back to the fun vibe of S1!
Only criticism is the season felt very rushed – finale as well. Trying to squeeze an entire season into 8 episodes is crazy.
S2 was pretty bad. Weird storylines – they made Liv an idiot & Harry became a supporting actor. That, combined with the nuts running the Reddit sub (banning anyone that didn’t love S2), a lot of people I know (myself included) stopped watching. It left a bad taste in people’s mouths :/
I had actually forgotten about it but saw promos on SyFy and decided to give it another shot.
So glad they are back to the Harry focused fun!!
How is this show not renewed yet?!? Also, am I among a minority? I did not like the Heather character at all. Every scene she was in was just wasted time for me.
Her scenes were so cringey. Not a Heather fan.
Live the show. Max will be the whistleblower, recognizing the alien as not being Harry. CAN’T WAIT FOR SEASON 4
I just found Resident Alien on Peacock last month and binge watched it until I was caught up on the 3rd season. I love it! I cannot wait until season 4. I’m a huge Firefly fan so I was thrilled to see Alan and hear Nathan’s voice. Syfy will be crazy if they don’t renew this!
I don’t know how I’m going to wait until season 4 comes out!!!! This became my favorite show over night ! If they are smart, whoever is the one who gets to make the decision on season 4, they better jump ON it and QUICK! I need more Harry Vanderspeigle !!!!
Great show. Please review for season 4 through 20 at least. Great creative writers for this show. Brings back comedy from the ups.
There has to be many more seasons! This show is the best!
Season 3 brought back more of the fun from Season 1, that was hard to find in Season 2. Looking forward to Season 4!!
I love that Kate & the Mayor are getting their baby back. Good cliffhanger.
