HONORABLE MENTION: Patrick Brammall
OK, so we really thought Evil’s Andy was going to kill one of his own children while under the thrall of Leland’s hellish suggestion. And the fact that we bought into that terrifying possibility is, in large part, thanks to Patrick Brammall’s excellent performance in this week’s episode. Andy’s struggle as he fought the directive to murder his daughter was mostly internal; it was on Brammall to make the audience understand his deep torment. He succeeded: We defy you to watch that scene where the syringe gets closer to its target and not hold your breath in horror as Brammall battles mightily, face tense and body rigid, to stop Andy from doing his diabolical duty. The only moment better and more affecting came later, when Andy confessed that he needs to leave his family so he doesn’t hurt them, Brammall’s voice flat, hurt and full of tears. Gorgeous, gutting work all the way around. — Kimberly Roots
You guys really aren’t watching Interview with the Vampire, are you? Because if you did, you would at least mention Assad Zaman and Jacob Anderson. I honestly don’t remember better performance in recent years.
Just do yourself a favor and watch their masterclass in acting, which is episode 2×05.
I could not agree with more.. I’m not saying that Ruth Negga did not deserve the accolade as well because I did see the two episodes of Presumed Innocent and she was great..Assad Zaman deserved a mention as well he was amazing..
I have to give the title to Ncuti Gatwa, what a performance on last night Doctor Who.
Totally agree. His acting in last nights as well as Rogue were amazing.
He already won for this season. —Mgmt.
Agreed on Brammall. The tension in that scene with Andy and Laura in this week’s episode…you could’ve cut it with a knife. On another show, a character like Andy could just be a throwaway side character, so I really appreciate that this show allows him to be someone worth caring about and being invested in, thanks in large part to Brammall’s portrayal of him.
Nothing for The Boys? Everyone is killing it this season already, especially Karl Urban in Ep. 3. Heartbreaking- even if he did bring it all on himself.
Ooooh, Agents of SHIELD’s “Girl in the Flower Dress”, aka Raina.
(See Jan 7, 2014 TVLine article from Matt Webb).
She was also Performer of the Week on Aug 6th, 2016 for AMC’s “Preacher”.
Yes, her performance was magnetic.
Adjoa Andoh was honored in season 1 of Bridgerton, but she again knocked it out of the park – especially those scenes with her brother. Although for newer blood, I was quite impressed with Jessica Madsen as Cressida. Seeing her face light up as she gets the idea to take credit while thinking it could be her salvation to her interaction with Colin to the resignation towards the end, the character came so much more to life this season.
