Although we haven’t given up hope that ABC’s cancelled Station 19 will be saved before the end of its seventh and final season (here’s why), we have figured out a way to keep the first-responders drama’s legacy alive no matter what: by crossing over key characters to the mothership, Grey’s Anatomy.
We’d love to hang on to all of our favorite firefighters, but would it really make sense for Jaina Lee Ortiz’s newly minted Captain Andy Herrera to give up her father’s badge to pursue a new line of work that would hang a stethoscope around her neck instead of drop a helmet on her head? Probably not.
Similarly, considering the sacrifices that Merle Dandrige’s Chief Natasha Ross has already made for the sake of her career, can you imagine her quitting to become a hospital administrator or something? Yeah, us, either. Better to let her live happily ever after with Boris Kodjoe’s Robert Sullivan, even if it means that they’ll do so off screen.
So which Station 19 characters can we realistically cross over to Grey’s Anatomy (even if only on a recurring basis)? Check out our ideas below, then hit the comments with any others, past or present, that you think could and should be added to the list.
Since Jason George’s character started on Grey’s Anatomy and is married to Bailey, returning the surgeon from whence he came would be easy peasy. It would make sense, too, considering that (a) Ben’s age has made him a potential liability as a firefighter, and (b) adopting ill-fated pal Dean Miller’s daughter Pru has left him extra concerned about continuing on in his dangerous line of work.
Stefania Spampinato’s character was also introduced on Grey’s Anatomy and, though the actress is a Station 19 regular, her alter ego remains a member of Grey Sloan’s staff. To cross the OB/GYN back over, the long-running drama would just have to increase her screen time and have some fun with her history. Remember Carina’s make-out session with Owen? Amelia’s interest in a threesome with her and Link?
Obviously, we can’t keep Carina without bringing her wife aboard Grey’s Anatomy, too. And unlike Andy, we could see new mom Maya bailing on her risky profession to attend medical school, perhaps with an eye on becoming a trauma surgeon. Danielle Savre’s intense character wouldn’t just love the pit’s fast-paced, high-pressure environment, she’d thrive in it.
We cried right along with Grey Damon’s character when his repeated head injuries left him unable to keep working as a firefighter. But there may yet be a silver lining to his forced retirement. He could bail on his new job in dispatch and use the skills that he acquired in his years at 19 to become something that Grey’s Anatomy has always strangely avoided: a nurse.
With Crisis One being defunded, Barrett Doss’ bighearted first-responder has found herself at a loss. What she and the program need is someone with deep pockets and enough interest in being a force for good that they’d bankroll the initiative. As it happens, Vic knows just such an individual: her own ex-boyfriend, Jackson Avery, who could move Crisis One to Grey Sloan and put his old flame on the payroll.
If Crisis One were to move its HQ to Grey Sloan, Vic would surely want to take with her Josh Randall’s former captain, whose grace under pressure has not gone unnoticed. Recovering alcoholic Sean could then attend meetings with Richard and Amelia, and as an added bonus, we’d get to find out if we were right that sparks were flying between him and Vic.
Yeah, yeah, we know that 9-1-1 has dibs on in-demand Tracie Thoms, who recurs as Henrietta’s wife, Karen. But since ABC’s new acquisition has already been sharing the actress with Station 19 for years, there’s no reason why it couldn’t continue to lend her out, only in the future to Grey’s Anatomy, which has badly needed a psychologist like Diane on staff for, well, ever!
Having run for mayor, Jay Hayden’s character could come to despise more than ever the impact of politics on the firehouse — to the point that he transitions his unique skillset to the pit, either as a new intern or a nurse. Of course, once installed at Grey Sloan, he’d realize that things are no simpler there. But at least he might be able to bend the ear of conspicuously single Levi.
Assuming that Station 19’s new showrunners are successful in redeeming Carlos Miranda’s character, who became the tool of all tools in Season 6, we wouldn’t mind seeing him pull up to Grey Sloan on the regular in his new role as an EMT for a private ambulance company. That is, as long as he doesn’t bring “Chaos Kate” along for the ride. Sorry, but that’s a dealbreaker.
Granted, Emmett’s mother is hardly the most pivotal character to ever pass through Station 19. But we’ve always gotten a kick out of the way that Tricia O’Kelley plays Dixon’s perpetually soused widow. If she were to wind up getting a seat at meetings for the Catherine Fox Foundation, can you imagine the reaction Richard’s better half would have? “Honey, I’d sooner perform a lobotomy — on myself!”
Cleary you have no clue what’s happening on the show right now (or Grey’s). 90% of what you’ve written make any sense.

All of what was said made sense…except Jack as a nurse. I was actually surprised with him being a 911 dispatcher with his repeated head injuries.
Bringing Maya and Carina to Grey’s would – for me – be the least favored alternative of still having them on my screen.
Not because I don’t want to see them after S19 ends, but the Grey’s cast is already sooooo big, Marina would have even less screentime than now.
But if saving S19 or getting them the deserved spin-off fails, I’d even take these GA crumbs 🤷🏻♀️
Ben would actually make the most sense of going back.
He and Carina “originated” on Grey’s and they still have ties to the show.
Everyone else would be a stretch. But if the writers find a good story to incorporate them, bring it on.
1. I hope not, Let Station 19 rest in peace like Private practice and gave its fans only a closure. Either characters move full time like Amelia or a good story presented itself like Addison but don’t continue it in GA.

4. Like firefighting being a nurse has physical demand which Gibson can’t do.
5. wouldn’t be better more logical to introduce psychiatrist resident like season 2/ attending than Crisis One?
6. I can see Warren returning to grey or dying. Carina role can end with Station 19 but the question if she moved to GA will they keep her romance life off screen completely or divorce? Because I wish Danielle get a new regular role soon.
I always wanted Travis and Levi to get together. Levi has been on the back burner the last few seasons and never had a good man.

The only 2 characters who could logically shift to Grey’s are Warren and DeLuca. Bringing the others along would require a 2 hour episode each week to accommodate them all!

Carina & Ben are the only 2 that would make sense returning to Grey’s. BTW, Carina didn’t just “make out” with Owen-they slept together, as Andrew (RIP), Amelia and Teddy could attest to. It’s part of the reason Amelia was interested in a threesome w/her & Linc. But now that Carina’s married & has a baby, I’m not sure how much her bisexual past could come into play on GA. Considering how huge the cast is now, there’s really no room for any more cast members.
I’m happy to have Ben back but nothing else from Station 19. It’s been annoying that stories on Grey’s have no prelude unless you watch 19. Grey’s was fine – better even – before Station 19 premiered. It will be fine without it.
Chaos Kate is great. Please don’t exclud her. Vic and Ruiez can go they suck in this last season. Cry babies. And yes I’ve watched all seasons.
I would definitely like to see Ben, Vic, Jack, Theo, and Travis make their way to Grey’s.
I would really like to see Station 19 saved!! I admire a program that includes so much, inclusion, diversity and showing woman in ranks that were normally always filled with men and not afraid to do it. This idea may be good for the actors but only if everything has been exhausted to save Station 19 from being cancelled. I love this show and Beckett, he has sent me right to tears this season, amazing acting. They all are amazing actors and let’s keep them together. SAVE STATION 19!!!

Carina coming back would make sense even Ben but the rest really don’t. Maya could get time on greys as carina wife periodically.. maybe we could see the other characters periodically dropping patients off in the aid car.
I think all the people that you have listed would be great on Grey’s. I love all these characters and will miss seeing them on Station 19 so it would be great to see them on Grey’s.
Grey’s already often suffers from having a bloated cast. Right now they’re balancing what they have pretty well, no need to rock the boat. I’d take Ben back as a series regular and Carina as a recurring guest star with occasional appearances from Maya. That’s all. The suggestion of Travis dating Levi reeks of “you’re the only two gay people I know, so you’d be perfect for each other.”
It would be great for two for Carina delubishopca Maya Bishop to join the group on Grey’s Anatomy that way it will be awesome for them anyway because station 19 is coming to the end that’s it for station 19 that way there will be lots of people on Grey’s Anatomy

Other than Carina and Ben, no, and they would still be recurring. We already have an OB, and we don’t need another surgeon who keeps changing jobs after a few years.
Pretty sure Tracie Thoms was a patient on Grey’s
I would to see Tracie Thoms’ psychologist Diane get her own spinoff. She and her team spend a season or half season working with a different group of 1st responders after a traumatic event. We get to see the event unfold as she works with the group. Tracie as Diane is such a joy to watch. It gives all the excitement of 911, station 19, and tje Chicago’s but it can go the step further of high stakes consequences to characters we have invested in because they Don t need to be fine for next season
Okay this is a solid idea! Still holding out hope that station 19 will be saved, but at the very least we need those characters to cross over!
I’m sick of the gay porn storylines. It’s fine to have gay characters, but I don’t want to watch their sex scenes on network TV. Cancel the show if better writing can’t prevail.
This show can just go off in peace. We don’t need to see this characters again, especially in some ridiculous scenario in Greys. The only one that makes any sense is Ben. Why was this even an article? Not every thing needs to live on.
Maybe bring Ben back since he’s already a little involved on the Grey’s side, but let the rest ride off into the sunset. GA already has enough characters to keep up with as it is.
All the characters from 19 is good. But don’t want to see it go. Bringing them in to GA. Is a good idea. The characters on GA right now I’m not feeling them. The long time characters yes. But new ones no. Not interesting for me. If they could take 19 to another station line up would be OK for me.
I would love transitioning station 19 characters over to Greys!!! I love each and everyone of these characters and think they would be a welcome addition if we can not save the show! The cast of station 19 are amazing and too lose them would be stupid. Please save the show and if not transition them to Grays it woujd bring new interest to the show!!
