Number of Seasons: 1 so far (2022). High Point: Episode No. 3, “Dee,” which allowed Samantha Morton to shed new light on Alpha’s existence between the end of the world and the rise of the Whisperers. Low Point: The premiere. Despite how cute Terry Crews and Olivia Munn were together, the episode devolved into the silliest of riffs on Fatal Attraction. Its MVP: Parker Posey, who showed us the funny as the boss from hell in “Blair/Gina.” In Short: Before it aired, an anthology series that furthered the Walking Dead mythology seemed like an exclamation point of an idea. And after? It didn’t seem like it had any point at all.
The season 6 finale being the high point of the series is an odd choice considering the lame cliffhanger ending got tons of hate.
Well I quit watching after season 6 due to Negan. That character ruined the series for me.
I agree with you! After that I stopped watching it has a devoted fan!
Negan wasn’t the problem for me. Rick had the shooting ability of Barney Fife when it came to him trying to kill Negan. Rick couldn’t hit the side of a barn door when it came to his shooting ability. Early on, Rick had multiple chances to kill Negan, but failed miserably.
My ranking is 10/10 for all of them, we’re big fans and they never get old! :)
Me too! Loved every season and episode and I also loved every character in the show.
Original TWD is best.
The original was the best, but as the seasons went by, the writing went from bad to worse.
I feel like Negan was one of the greatest villains ever introduced on a tv show. Had it happened ten years earlier it wouldn’t have gotten so much hate but we got softer as a viewing public and sadly the creators did not see it coming.
I still maintain the main series peaked with the season five premiere, where Carol takes down Terminus almost single-handedly. The problem is: everyone walks out and it’s not until the next episode where these survivor-warriors blindly dive into a flooded basement and (shocker!) someone gets bit that the writing started to take a nosedive and it became necessary for people to act stupidly in order to create drama.
As for Negan, your mileage may vary and I do adore Morgan, but that lead up to a cliffhanger of “Who will die???” followed by a premiere where it took almost the entire episode to find out who was emblematic of a show that how grown too big and lost its “anything can happen” roots. When you promote a death almost 9 months in advance, you are sapping the unpredictability out of your show.
This comment is pretty perfect.
6. World Beyond
5. Dead City
4. Tales
3. Fear
2. TWD
1. Daryl Dixon (hopefully – bc it would be great to have a spinoff that surpassed the original, instead of the painfully boring mess we’re used to)
I couldn’t agree more. NR made the show what it is. He is the only reason I actually watched the show and didn’t switch channels. I came to love the original show because of him (as well as the others) but as for the new short spin-off shows, DD is definitely the most original, fresh and exciting one.
if you find something a painfully boring mess – you might want to consider just stop watching any of it – don’t torture yourself
I love it when they finally reach their destination and it’s Mont Saint Michel! What an epic use for such a gorgeous and scenic place that is so rich in French history! Absolutely loved it!🥰
Considering the vast quality range within TWD and Fear themselves, it would’ve been far more interesting to break them down into seasons. For example I’d gladly take Tales and World Beyond over the final seasons of TWD and Fear. But the earlier seasons of TWD were of course outstanding, and the best seasons of Fear were pretty decent. Also Dead City seems… high, but my feelings never recovered after the dreadful premiere. I’ll go back and rewatch the whole thing before the second season with a more open mind.
Have been watching almost from the beginning (2011). Have watched every spinoff as well. Completely agree with this list.
Season 6 final as the high point? It was the episode where the show went downhill!
Surely that’s the best place to start going downhill then… from a high point!
Honestly, I felt the original TWD reached its high point when it had that cannibal storyline that was so fun when Carol rescued them all.
Walking Dead’s high point was either the episode with Lizze & Mika (top shelf television) or Carol’s assault on Terminus (completing her slow and eminently believable transition from meek domestic violence victim to the biggest badass of the apocalypse). It absolutely was not Negan, whose long and artificially drawn-out arc is considered to be what killed the show. Which is too bad, because the Whisperers and Alpha
were awesome . . . if only the show had gotten to them two seasons earlier.
Tales was worst show just awful and terrible I kept watching and hoping it would get better. World Beyond was watchable but not good. Walking dead and Fear was very good. I haven’t had time to watch the new spin offs yet so no opinion.
In the end, the only true service World Beyond did was give us the CRM backstory for the Ones Who Live
This is just a ranking of which show has the most high profile characters from the original show on it. The peak seasons of Fear easily clear the new OG character spinoffs.
Best franchise not just of the modern era but probably all time. For the original Walking Dead to continue running at such a high standard and over a decade and more is simply outstanding. This has meant so much to so many people and of varying generations.
I am a true fan of anything “Dead”! It started out as a kid with “Night of The Living Dead” and every production from that point on. When The Walking Dead came out, I would never miss a episode. I just hate I couldn’t be a Walker! Dag!
Those who live finally ……. get out the tissue box!!!!
I am 65 and addicted to Walking Dead all of it. Has it all been perfect no but hasn’t been thrilling and the psychology between the characters is amazing. I would love to see it continue not sure what direction that would be but I would be a fan. I watched The Walking Dead Universe channel on the regular just can’t get enough. Keep it up guys!
