That brings us to Episode 13. The final installment in Tracker‘s freshman run introduces Justin Hartley‘s This Is Us co-star Jennifer Morrison as family friend Lizzy Hawking. Colter helps Lizzy track down her M.I.A. daughter, then Colter and Lizzy catch up over breakfast, where Lizzy serves up more than just pancakes. She hands Colter fresh intel on Dad….
Years ago, Ashton worked with Lizzy’s mother. First they were coworkers, then they were lovers. “They were having an affair… but that’s not the weirdest part,” Lizzy says. “Last year, when my mom passed away, I was going through her stuff and most of it was junk… but there was this file box under her bed. Inside it were all these research papers and journals — very personal ones. At first, I didn’t know what it was, and then I realized it belonged to your father. It was his work.”
“Why would she have something like that?” Colter asks.
“I asked myself that same thing,” Lizzy answers. She brings up a recently recovered memory of Ashton visiting her mom right before he died. “My room overlooked the driveway, and I could hear shouting one night. I looked out the window, and my mom and your dad were having some kind of argument. Then they stopped, and hugged, and she carried this box into the house.”
Colter asks Lizzy if she’s still in possession of the box, but she gave it to someone else… someone we all know. “I called Dory and she had me send it to her,” Lizzy reveals. She urges Colter to leave the past behind… which is exactly what Dory recommended that Colter do two weeks ago, when she was secretly in possession of Ashton’s file box. Is Dory hiding something, or is she trying to protect him…?
If Colter wants to pursue the truth, Lizzy suggests that he get in touch with Mary. Alas, Colter isn’t so sure he can trust Mom after what Russell told him about Dad’s death.
“What are you going to do now?” Lizzy asks.
“Right now? Nothing,” Colter answers.
He leaves, he goes surfing, he sits on a beach and he contemplates his next move.
Reenie, meanwhile, has been in touch with Colter’s brother. Russell’s in Argentina, and invites Reenie to fly out and join him. Suffice it to say, she’s got her hands full at the moment: Not only is she secretly investigating Russell’s employer — The Horizon Group, a shady private security firm first referenced in Episode 12 — but she’s in the midst of a major career change. In the finale, we learn that she’s resigned from her cushy law firm. Will she join Colter’s team full time in Season 2?
Great show.
Great show! Good actors—- writing and characters are terrific!
Jensen Ackles is an excellent addition to the show.
Have enjoyed this series and both of us are glad there will be a season 2.
i don’t usually like shows like this nor do i find justin attractive… and yet i have watched and enjoyed this show. i like the cast of characters around him. it’s no will trent, but i’ll keep watching next season!
Great show. Looking forward to season 2.
You can tell they have the network behind them, and the audience, which gives them the confidence to not reveal too much mythology or too many answers too quickly. They plan on this show being around for a long time
I love this show. The acting is really good. The action keeps you involved and wanting more. The interaction between characters has an affect on the viewer because it makes you want more. I will definitely watch next season.
Thoroughly enjoyed season 1. My family and I look forward to it every Sunday evening. Let’s hope the action continues to be focused on every character who contributes to Colter Shaw finding out the who and what of his life.
I wonder if Reenie is joining the FBI
Honestly, the show would be stronger if Reenie took over finding jobs and getting personal intel in place of the couple who do that in s1 – that’s their only purpose in the show and Bobby can do the computer stuff and had an emotional focus explaining his relationship with Colter, and Reenie’s had more of a connection displayed with Colter than the couple have – they just pop up once or twice an episode to set the scene and fill in for whichever actor wasn’t available that week to provide clues over the phone. She could set up anywhere as a sole practitioner to protect her income and enable her continued registration and professional liability insurance as a lawyer, and take on whatever cases enable her to target the big guys, as well as helping out Colter’s clients for a cut of his reward.
This way the team is condensed to Colter, Bobby and Reenie with space in the narrative for Russell and Billie to pop up and partner up once/twice a season without pushing anyone out, and we get a couple of minutes back to go towards the case of the week and give Colter some time to actually use his skills instead of following hint coins along a clearly delineated path.
Those women in the tiny trailer add nothing to the show and would not be missed. I want to see more of Jensen Ackles and Mary McDonnell. More Melissa Roxburgh would have been nice but now she has her NBC drama.
I thought the finale was excellent! And Jennifer Morrison was a great addition for a last episode. Was I the only one thinking Reenie was going to be shot as she sat in that cafe?
No – I thought that, too! So glad they didn’t go that route with Reenie.
Great show, I love the case of the week format. Actually, I could live without that unsolved background story. It’s just a distraction and does not add to the show itself.
Even though they didn’t have any screentime together in the season finale, there’s a lot of good chemistry between Colter and Reenie.
I hope to see more of them working together next season–even though Colter Shaw is a loner in the books.
I feel like the ’30 mins procedural/12 mins Colter whump’ doesn’t really serve either story very well, and having Bobby and the two managers + Reenie all serving as ‘find information for convenient exposition drop’ all really hamper the series. It’s been its best when Colter’s tracking or finding clues on his own and dealing with the families, which ends up being very little of each episode by the time we have 2x45sec calls with Bobby, a scene on the phone with Reenie, Reenie doing a TV-lawyer speech at someone, the to manager people leaning over the one phone for an 80 sec ‘here is exposition and a job you won’t go to, let’s establish Colter’s emotional baseline’ and then some form of conversation or exposition towards the woe-Colter’s-dad arc squidged in. Perhaps against a full 22 ep season where they could have the procedural episodes breathe on their own (I feel like the massive gaps between woe-Colter’s-dad were due to the cut down season and the arc was meant to be across 4-5 standalones + episodes with Russell, Dory and Colter’s mom and actually resolve in the finale, at least prior to renewal) it would have been a lot stronger. As it is, none of Colter’s relationships appear any more than transactional, and he doesn’t seem to do anything other than walk around with his gun out and asking a few sage questions – he’s a PI, not a tracker.
he sure gets hit over the head from behind a lot.
Roller coaster! I love Bobby and Reenie as Colter’s “team”. They always come through. Bobby is #1 asset. Reenie is a badass and always gets her man. She should definitely work for the FBI, as long as she can continue to help out Colter. I still don’t see the importance of his “handlers”, Teddi and Velma. Frankly, I think they are filling out Hollywood’s DEI requirement, and that’s it. I realize they find him jobs, but do you need 2 people to do that? Do they actually make enough money to live on doing that? They didn’t earn any money from that last case since they had nothing to do with it. Bobby does all the research work. As for next season, a little background family stuff is OK, but don’t make it the main story. It’s not that interesting.
Enjoy the show. Like the interaction of all the characters that it takes to find someone missing quickly. Especially like Reenie.
I absolutely love this show!! Who wouldn’t,just look at Justin!! I’m so glad there is a season 2, I so hope ther will be more episodes,in this next season Now I can’t wait.A big thumbs up.
This is my favourite show playing right now.
I’m loving this series. But did anyone else think that the story line in the finale wherein the sheriff turns out to be dirty was maybe a bit too obvious?
Yeah, my wife and I figured out pretty quick that the sheriff was in on it. Especially, when he tried to downplay the murder right off the bat.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first season and cannot wait for season 2!!! It’s been great seeing actors/actresses I haven’t seen in awhile on here too!!! ❤️❤️❤️ A+++
Tracker is an excellent show for CBS. Just don’t cancel the really best show you have,Blood Blues. It would be a big mistake for CBS.
Tracker is going to be a wonderful nighttime show to see on weekends.
I love Tracker! I look forward to each week to see what will be on the show! I also enjoy that there is no foul language or full nudity! Each episode is an adventure I look forward to. Thanks for Tracker!
Would love to see Jensen Eckels join the shoe full time.
Best new show on tv in years! Just gets better and better!
Would love to see Justin and Reenie together again, even one night!
What is she up to….I think opening up her own practice so she can be more available to Colter! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
