Buck has a big decision to make on Monday’s 9-1-1 (Fox, 8/7c).
The episode reunites Buck with an old college friend who reveals that he and his wife have been having fertility issues. And as you’ll see in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek, Buck might just be the solution to the couple’s problems.
“If you say yes, you’ll be changing their lives,” Hen says after Buck tells her that the couple asked him to be their sperm donor. “If I can help ease this burden for them, why would I not do that?” he replies.
Of course, the situation is hardly that simple. “This isn’t an anonymous donation,” Hen reminds Buck. “You won’t have to wonder if there’s a kid out there with your DNA. You’re going to know there is.”
9-1-1 executive producer Kristen Reidel recently teased to TVLine that Buck’s Season 6 journey would find him “figuring out who he wants to be for himself — what he needs, what his purpose is in life, what’s required to make him happy.” Perhaps helping his old friend make a baby is exactly what he’s been looking for.

I love Buck (most of the time) but he should not/will not do this. Also – would that couple actually want Buck to be camped on their doorstep as a ‘third parent’ for the rest of the kid’s life? 😏
And then Eddie tells Buck that he basically already has a kid in Christopher… right? RIGHT???
Hear hear!
I thought that was… a given?!! Buck could never have a more loving kid than Christopher. I better stop now before my shipper agenda becomes just as obvious.
In my opinion this plot is either partly because they don’t want to do that and are just throwing random things at the wall to see what sticks in terms of Buck storylines (because let’s be honest, it is definitely random) OR this is all leading up to that and Buck realizing his feelings, that he’s most happy and at “ease” with them, they’re his family, etc. I really hope it’s the latter option but not sure if they have the guts to do it.
I honestly don’t think it’s random! I think it fits perfectly into the storyline they’ve set up for Buck this season: him figuring out who he wants to be and what he truly wants out of life. It just remains to be seen whether they have the guts to take it to its obvious conclusion that everything he wants and needs, he already has with Eddie and Chris.
More random in that I would think that this character would be close to Buck to ask for something huge like that and a reoccurring theme with Buck has been *not* having close friends/a life outside of the 118…however, I’ll reserve judgment until I see how they handle it in the episode!
The more the reasons I believe Buck would agree to it: he already has a family of sort with Eddie and Christopher. If that couple achieves even half of the happiness he already shares by becoming a family, then there’s no reason to deny them that much.
I think this entire thing is stupid. Buck knows his brother had leukemia, right? If so then why the hell is he even considering saying yes? Seriously what kind of stupid writing is this? I
That shouldn’t preclude him from considering reproducing, though. Maddie has a child, after all. I imagine that he will need to disclose the fact, and maybe the former roommate and his wife will decide that they aren’t comfortable with it. But I don’t like the idea that people with personal or family histories of cancer shouldn’t have children.
Where did i write that he shouldn‘t have children?
I just think this plot is stupid because the first thing that comes to my mind if i would get such a proposal would be: i need to tell them i had a brother with leukemia. They need to know this. Period. Here it looks like he didn‘t even waste a single second about that thought. It‘s just like the 5B cheating plot. It‘s stupid.
It’s hard to understand your point.
You are a crazy selfish person to make that statement!
On a related but tangental note, I wonder how much of his desire to do this stems from an unconscious need to fulfill that “purpose” his parents set up for him as a baby that he’d “failed” at.
I really hope they have Maddie bring up that point to him – that he doesn’t need to do that for these people just because he wasn’t able to help their brother!
A proposal to be sperm donor???
.
Damn! I wish it’s for throuple… 😆
