ABC is the second broadcast network, following CBS, to announce dates for its delayed, post-strike slate.
ABC’s midseason schedule kicks off in late January with the premiere of The Bachelor: Joey Graziadei Edition, which will be followed by a new, true crime-themed 20/20 offshoot.
Of note, The Good Doctor is on the move for the first time ever — to the Tuesday night closer spot, where it will follow Will Trent (now airing at 8/7c) and The Rookie (moving into the cancelled Rookie: Feds‘ time slot). Also, the acquired Fox first responders drama 9-1-1 will lead into Grey’s Anatomy on Thursdays, bumping Station 19 to 10 pm.
ABC is not confirming any episode counts at this time.
(ABC’s only new series for this season, the Kaitlin Olson-led High Potential, was previously pushed to Fall 2024.)

okay I totally forgot Will Trent existed
Me too but when I saw the name I was so happy. Love the show. And before someone says how can you forget a show you love. I watch too much TV and so much is going on in the world.
Oh no. Is moving Good doctor to a new day a bad sign? Years ago, when networks started moving shows around, it usually spelled doom, or so it seemed. I had forgotten about will Trent and that 911 had moved to ABC.
The Good Doctor has been a solid performer for ABC. Plugging it into their death slot may help improve ratings there.
I think it’s more of an indicator that Monday Night Football will most likely become a permanent fixture again on the ABC fall lineup from here on. This will give The Good Doctor a better, more stable timeslot compared to airing in multiple timeslots across the country, either before or after football. And if this is the case, DWTS will most likely take over American Idol’s timeslot on Sundays in the fall.
I think the other networks will have a problem with MNF being on ABC moving forward based on contracts and ad sales. Allowing it for the strike was a stop gap.
But if that were the case, they could just air it in its original timeslot from Jan-May instead of starting a usually stretched out season from Sept-May.
Yeah as on Mondays with Mnf airing on abc when they only had 1 or2 games and also the wild card game in thr mountain tome zone it usally was I think on between 1 to 3 am so you had to watch it on dvr or there site or on demand
I thought the same thing. You move it to a new day… it’s a bad sign.
OR it’s a sign that ABC needed an hour-long drama to help fill the Tuesday hole left by FEDS.
With 9-1-1, Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 premiering so late, we’ll probably only get 10 episodes of each.
Yes, that has been confirmed
“ ABC is not confirming any episode counts at this time.”
I can swear I’ve read that Greys will only have ten episodes, so I assume that goes for the others too
Dramas will probably be closer to 10, comedies closer to 13.
1 hour Abbott premiere! That is exciting. Can’t wait for that and the Rookie to come back.
Probably only 13 episodes of Abbott Elem., and they are going to burn off an hour and a half of them on the first two nights?
They have 14 episodes this season, and the premiere is only an hour, so two episode premiere.
Wow, just realizing that Abbott Elementary is the only ABC show left that I still watch. Maybe something new next fall will catch my eye.
Better than me. I just realized that there is nothing left I watch on ABC. I am going to miss Home Economics.
Same here. The only show I watch on ABC now is Abbott Elementary.
Only The Rookie and Will Trent for me (plus an occasional Jeopardy)
Still a lot of reliance on reality shows – part of ABC cost cutting?
It’s gonna take til March for Greys and Station 19 to get back on the air? The writers have been back at work for about a month. Actors are back now. I figured mid-January. March seems ridiculous.
The writers have been working but those shows require a decent amount of pre-production (and post) – filming will begin at the end of November and then break in a few weeks for Christmas, so they really won’t be able to get into consistent filming until the new year. Plus, these shows are heavily serialized, so it will be a lot better to air them uninterrupted for 10 weeks.
I think ABC will give Thursdays their big push, since 911 is a huge get for them, and Grey’s has been their #1 show for years and is celebrating a landmark.
Most probably the Thursday dramas only have 10 episodes this season. ABC seems to want them run almost uninterrupted.
From what I’ve seen, 9-1-1 (starts airing at the same time) isn’t even planning to start filming until January. And post production takes time.
I wouldn’t expect to see more than 10 episodes of any of the Thursday shows
The holidays are coming up too y’know
Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 hasn’t been returning mid January for a few years now. Lately they don’t return from winter break until late Feb early March, that seem to have been the norm for the past couple maybe a few years now.
I might be the only one, but I am disappointed that Rookie: Feds was cancelled. I enjoyed the show and to see what Niecy’s character was going to be up to next. I got a good laugh from the show.
Me too
I loved seeing those 2 shows. Niece is a hoot, I am really going to miss that show!!!
No, you’re not the only one. I liked it too.
I really liked it but more for Britt and Kevin’s characters TBH. Can we see a Vampire Cop movie or TV show? Maybe a little more serious than the campy versions we saw on FEDS.
Bring back Alaska Daily
That was an intelligent and very relevant show. Sadly people don’t want that,.
Bring back The Company You Keep, and The Rookie Feds.
Excited for Good Doctor! Think The Rookie will help it out a bit despite the move. Geez it’s been far too long.
I’m glad it’s back, but 8pm seems like an odd slot for Will Trent. I guess I thought the same about The Rookie when it got put in the same slot though.
I started watching early seasons of 9-1-1 in syndication a few months ago, but still not sure whether I will be watching the new episodes…
I’m a night owl, so during the strikes I got hooked on the Sunday night/Monday morning twofers of syndicated “9-1-1.” Hoping they continue that even as ABC starts showing 1st-run episodes in prime time this March.
I can’t wait for 911.
With the Thursday line-up set to premiere so late (March 14), I’m sure we can a big promo push especially during the Oscars (March 10)
Will Trent airing earlier should help give its ratings a nice boost. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a timeslot winner for scripted in that hour.
ABC you need to take S.W.A.T. away from CBS! This is their last season on CBS. Please take it over! They would fit perfect on you channel! They have so many more stories they can tell!
I’m going to miss Rookie:feds. Not a fan of Abbott elementary nor Will trent. Hopefully they come up with some new good comedies. Glad they picked up 911, both are good. Sure hope The Good Dr doesn’t get lower ratings/axed from going the new time. Please, please STOP with all the reality shows at least!
I’m very excited Will Trent is coming back for season 2!! Something different. I’ll be there!
Just here for Will Trent & Not Dead Yet.
I forgot that NDY got renewed. Such a cute show.
I’m still disappointed of the cancelation of Home Economics & The Company You Keep but I am glad that What Would You Do? is getting a new season. I’ve watched that since it first premiered & I find it moving when they tackle all kinds of issues.
Ummmmm – why are you using a photo of an actor who hasn’t been on the show since the 1st season – and they are now going into season 6 …. The Rookie. Please do better.
What are you even talking about??
My best guess is they mistook Quinta Brunson for Afton Williamson…
Because you know… All Black actresses are the same (insert eye roll)
My mistake – actually looking at the picture, more like they mistook Angela Bassett for Afton Williamson, which is even worse. She’s literally one of the most celebrated actresses of our time.
Looking forward to Will Trent and The Rookie. Tuesdays look good.
The Season 6 finale of 911 was one of the worst episodes of the entire franchise. I am not sure if the show can and will bounce back from it with Kristen Reidel remaining as showrunner. Sigh. She has basically „killed“ all of my excitement for this show.
They cancelled every show we watched. Big Sky, The Company You Keep & Home Economics. We’re done with ABC.
Yikes. Not a lot of stuff left for me to watch on ABC. Partially because of the Strike. Partially because they cancelled the only ABC shows I enjoyed. RIP The Company you Keep and Home Economics.
