Alert: Missing Persons Unit will continue to report for duty, now that Fox has renewed the procedural for Season 3. An episode count has not yet been determined.
The news comes four days ahead of Alert: MPU‘s Season 2 finale, airing Tuesday, May 14 (at 9/8c). TVLine’s Renewal/Cancellation scorecard has thusly been updated.
Season-to-date, Alert: MPU has been averaging 2.6 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down a steep 32% and 40% from its freshman numbers.
Out of the 24 entertainment programs Fox has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 6 in audience, while only Cleaning Lady, So You Think You Can Dance, TMZ Investigates, Grimsburg and The Great North pull a smaller demo number.
Set in the Philadelphia PD’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU), Alert: Missing Persons Unit with each episode chronicles the life-or-death search for a missing person, headed by detectives Jason Grant and Nikki Batista (played by Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez). Once married, Jason and Nikki have a very personal connection to their cases seeing as their own young son went missing and was never found — despite what Season 1 for a long while led us to believe.
At MPU, Nikki leads a team that also includes Mike Sherman (Ryan Broussard, Only Murders In The Building), the fiancé with whom she has been planning a wedding, and Kemi Adebayo (Adeola Role, The Blacklist), a spiritually savvy detective.
For Season 2, Family Law alum Alisha-Marie Ahamed joined the mix in the series-regular role of Wayne Pascal, a master hacker with whom Jason worked when he was in Afghanistan, while Ally McBeal alum Gil Bellows has been recurring in the role of Inspector Hollis Braun, Nikki and Jason’s new superior who arrived with “every intention of keeping their antics in line.”
Deadline was first to report the news of Alert: MPU’s renewal.
In addition to Alert: MPU, Fox’s 2024-25 scripted slate includes 9-1-1: Lone Star (Season 5), Accused (Season 2), Animal Control (Season 3), Bob’s Burgers (Season 15), Family Guy (Season 23), Grimsburg (Season 2), Krapopolis (already renewed for Seasons 2 and 3) and The Simpsons (Season 36).
Still on the bubble at Fox are The Great North (which is still awaiting official word on Season 5) and The Cleaning Lady (which would be entering Season 4).

the moment where tou know Fox has finally completely lost the strip.
Wow I have to say this is a bit of a shocker. Not that great a show but certainly an improvement over last season.
I wasn’t a fan of the show in season 1 but I think they went too far in the other direction. It’s so safe and bland now and I miss the weirdness.
Sounds like the lady has cleaned up her last mess.
Deadline says in its Fox renewals and ratings report that prospects are good for Cleaning Lady’s renewal. But we shall see, if/when that happens.
I think Arman’s death had more of an effect than they thought it would. Truly sad but it’s different than a character being written out of the show.
Wow. FOX must not have anything decent for their schedule. Since the gave up 9-1-1 which went to be a run away hit at ABC. To renew a show that is getting such low ratings.
Not to mention Scott Caan is a terrible actor.
😳😳😳wow!!!
By this ratings. FOX, will you more shows?? CSI, NCIS Hawaii and Blue Bloods are on offer! Take it!!
I doubt it , Alert is Sony that’s why it got renewed , their shows are cheaper.
Or bring back Jack Bauer!
I would have expected The Cleaning Lady more than this, guess we’ll see,
So glad to see this, especially after the last episode!
Glad to hear it. This is one of the few Fox shows I watch and enjoy.
I agree. This is also one of the few shows on Fox that I watch and enjoy.
So glad to see this, especially after the last episode!
Series is lame and derivative. one of those shows that started high concept but didnt know what it wanted to be after the dust settled. Surprised by the renewal.
Thank God they left a really good show on!!
Thanks for renewing Alert! Love the show.
One of the bright spots with Scott Caan.
Too many are being canceled while others haven’t. Some really need to go under
I will say the writers did a great job wrapping it’s season long stories tonight and left no cliffhanger…. Much better job than shows like NCIS Hawaii which was canceled on a cliffhanger.. Show was better in season 2… Looking forward to season 3….
I’m so glad “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” was renewed. I love watching these types of crime/mystery shows.
Watching the unorthodox relationships of these characters has been fun & entertaining & I can’t wait to see what the writers come up with next season!
