All Creatures Great and Small Renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 — Who’s Returning?
For All Creatures Great and Small fans, some great, big news: MASTERPIECE announced on Friday that the series based on James Herriot’s iconic collection of stories has been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6.
Each of the two seasons will consist of six episodes plus Christmas specials, airing Stateside here on PBS.
It was also announced that Callum Woodhouse, who was off-screen for Season 4, will return for the fifth season as Tristan Farnon. (Siegfried’s brother has been away serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, when he makes an unexpected return during Season 5.)
Also back for Season 5 are Nicholas Ralph as vet James Herriot, Samuel West as the mercurial Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as the matriarch of Skeldale House Mrs. Hall, Rachel Shenton as the charismatic Helen Herriot, James Anthony-Rose as Richard Carmody, and Patricia Hodge as the wonderfully sophisticated Mrs Pumphrey (with her pampered Pekingese Tricki in tow, of course).
“It is such a joy to share the news of two more seasons of All Creatures Great and Small,” Susanne Simpson, executive producer for MASTERPIECE, said in a statement. “The MASTERPIECE audience has come to treasure this heart-warming series. We’re also particularly happy to welcome back Callum Woodhouse as Tristan to this incredible ensemble of actors.”
Adds Sir Colin Callender CBE, CEO of lead producer Playground: “Kindness and decency are increasingly rare qualities these days, so it is a blessing to be able to return to the sanctuary of Skeldale House and James Herriot’s beloved characters who represent all that is the best in us. There are no villains in All Creatures — just everyday folk trying to get through the day with dignity with the help of a supportive community, family and friends. It’s a lesson for modern times.”
So happy to hear this news! I always feel warm and cozy after watching All Creatures. I’ve seen the original series and loved it and I really love this new version as well.

Just wanted to comment on All Creatures Big and Small,it is definitely.one of the best feel good shows to watch . Wish there were more than 6 episodes to a season.
This show is just so wonderful and I am happy to hear that Tristan will show back up he was missed.
All Creatures is perhaps the best program on TV. I’m delighted for the return of “Tristan” He has been missed. The performances and writing is brilliant and each episode just brings such joy. Keep this show forever!
this is such welcome news!! This series is so good and hope it goes on for years to come. Everything about it is as close to perfect as TV drama can be. It is one of the reasons why I became a Sustaining Member

Thrilled that this has been renewed for two series. I’m also pleased that Tristan will be back for a season. I simply love this show. Doing a little happy dance.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this news! By far my favorite show. I’m in love with all of the main characters and that Tristan is returning. Season 5 can’t come fast enough for me.

I know it’s a different production company but I wonder about its Sunday night partner “Miss Scarlett and the Duke””??? They sent the Duke off to NY to end the season… Lots more stories in that world… I actually enjoyed that more but both on my DVR…
I didn’t care for this season of Scarlet at all. Very little character development and the stories are increasingly dull. They have got to do better next season. If I were the actor playing William, I would want to leave and be on other shows.

I am so ‘delighted’ that this show will return!!! I LOVE the wholesomeness of the plot, the actors and, of course, just love the animals. Also, there is somewhat of a ‘comical’ side to the stories. Love the actors! So glad that it will RETURN!❤️
