All of Us Are Dead lives! The South Korean zombie drama will be back for Season 2, it was officially announced on Monday as part of Netflix‘s Geeked Week event.
Netflix also released a wild teaser for Warrior Nun‘s first episodes in… well, a while.
All of Us Are Dead‘s freshman season, released back in January, was based on a digital comic from Webtoon and followed a group of students who were trapped in a high school and found themselves in dire situations as they sought to be rescued from a zombie invasion.
After its premiere, All of Us Are Dead shot straight into the Top 10 most watched non-English TV series in 91 countries, and stayed there for two consecutive weeks. It also amassed 361 million viewing hours in its first 10 days.
The way Season 1 ended left room for endless possibilities, which fans will now get to see in All of Us Are Dead 2, which will again be written by co-creator Chun Sung-il and directed by co-creators Lee JQ and Kim Nam-su.
Speaking of shows about the the dead coming alive….
Warrior Nun released its freshman season back in July of 2020, nearly two years ago. Inspired by the Manga novels, the series revolves around Ava, a 19-year-old woman (played by Alba Baptista) who woke up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She in turn discovered she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.
The teaser video below sums up Season 1 then rolls out fresh, action-packed footage from Season 2, before leaving the (very!) patient fans with a timetable for the series’ return.
Excited to FINALLY get more Warrior Nun. The concept, cast and European shooting locations are all very appealing.
I feel like season 2 is also set up to be a lot more fun than the first, now that it’s past the phase of Ava stubbornly running away from everything and nobody (including the audience) knowing what is actually at stake.
So excited that they renewed “All of Us Are Dead”. Excellent show and I loved the cast. I can’t wait for season 2.
Loved the first season of “Warrior Nun.” So glad it’s coming back for another season. Hope Netflix doesn’t cancel it.
With the “All of Us Are Dead” renewal, I hope someone guides the writer’s hand into creating better characters. The first season was a mess, and reading the manhwa it was based on, the Netflix series pales so much in comparison. Gwinam, the villainous bully of the series went from being threatening and complicated to a one-note monster in the adaptation. Nayeon went from a privileged character dealing with paranoia to just a shrill rich b*tch who looked down on her classmates. And the protagonists from the source material were smart and logical teens who dealt with the zombie problem while figuring out their way through puberty; the heroes of the adaptation were all more focused about their feelings for each other than actual survival. I know Korean dramas tend to let their writers run free… but maybe it’s time to offer them some sounding boards and writing teams?
if you are so disappointed in season 1 of “All of Us Are Dead”, simply stick to the digital comic while the rest of us enjoy season 2 of a fantastic television series. Many people, like myself, do not care how the characters in the digital comic were portrayed, since we didn’t read the comic. But we really enjoyed season 1 and look foward to an equally enjoyable season 2.
