Nasim Pedrad’s Chad Gets Season 2 Release Date at Roku, Following a Two-Year Delay — Watch Trailer
Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Chad has a Season 2 premiere date.
The former TBS comedy, which was rescued by Roku in October 2022, will return on Friday, Jan. 19. All 10 episodes will be available to stream for free, via The Roku Channel.

Chad — which stars Saturday Night Live grad (and series creator) Nasim Pedrad as a 14-year-old boy — has had a long and tumultuous history. It made it to the pilot stage at Fox in 2016 but was ultimately passed over. Then in 2019, TBS reshot the pilot and gave Pedrad the official greenlight. A teaser trailer was first released that spring, but Season 1 didn’t see the light of day for another two years, finally premiering April 6, 2021.
It was renewed for Season 2 that May, and was initially set to return on April 11, 2022. But four days ahead of its premiere, TVLine reported that Chad was delayed, and instead would return on July 11 of that same year.
Then, just hours before its first episode back, TBS announced that it had, in fact, cancelled Chad, and had no plans to air the already completed Season 2.
Three months later, Roku swooped in and acquired both seasons — and 15 months later will, at last, offer Season 2. Here’s an official logline:
“Sophomore year brings a new set of challenges for 15-year-old Chad Amani. His newfound popularity is under threat, his friendship with best friend Peter is put to the test, and his prepubescent attention is captivated by a new crush, all while Chad continues to come to terms with his cultural identity.”
In addition to Pedrad, Season 2 stars include Alexa Loo, Jake Ryan, Saba Homayoon, Paul Chahidi, Ella Mika, Thomas Barbusca and Sara Rowe.
That was an 8 year odyssey for 20 eps of a show…just make sure you watch it as soon as it hits the service. (A week later it will be gone…just ask The Slip!!)

I admit I’m not interested in the show, but I’m beyond happy for Nasim and everyone else involved in making it that it’s finally going be seen. I can only imagine how frustrating and demoralizing it is to pour so much of your life and energy into a project just to have it repeatedly jerked around by networks for YEARS.
