Evil‘s just-announced ending was a result of Paramount+ decision-making and did not stem from the show’s creative team wanting to wrap things up, a since-deleted social media post from series star Katja Herbers suggests.
In a post made hours after news of the cancellation broke (and then later taken down), Herbers tweeted: “We’re all super sad @paramountplus has decided season 4 is our last.” Then she courted another streaming site for a possible pickup. “@netflix u up? Care to snatch up the goods??”
TVLine has reached out to Paramount+ for comment.
Earlier today, TVLine reported that the supernatural series would end with its upcoming fourth season, which will be augmented with four additional episodes to be shot in the near future. The drama’s swan song is slated to premiere sometime in May.
“We want to thank Paramount+ for giving us four bonus episodes to end Evil in the world in style,” series co-creators/showrunners/executive producers Robert and Michelle King said via statement. “We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast Evil. See you in May.”
In conjunction with the final season announcement, Paramount+ released a teaser trailer showing Herbers’ Kristen, Mike Colter’s David, Aasif Mandvi’s Ben, Michael Emerson’s Leland and several other members of the show’s cast. (Watch it here.)
Would you watch Evil on another network or streaming service? Sound off in the comments!
It seems like FX could be a good fit too.
Absolutely!! Love the show! Make more seasons!!
Yes would love to continue watching this lovely show
Nooooo…. This show was pure evil in a good way and just to end it like this…. Well,I guess good things comes to an end sooner or later 😒
Its like they WANT us to cancel our subscriptions
Yes, put all seasons on Netflix!!
Love the show!!!
Love Evil. Someone please pick up this show!!!
What would be considered Paramount+’s flagship? I have the service and will miss Evil (I hope it goes somewhere else like Prime or Netflix) cut curious what would be considered their crown jewel…
Taylor Sheridan
And all things Star Trek
Star Trek, Survivor reruns, 1923, Halo, and maybe SpongeBob.
they coulda been the cool streaming network when they had a bunch of international versions of their flagship shows… and then they decided to pull it so now I don’t really see the value prop
Yellowstone spin-offs, other Taylor Sheridan’s shows, Star Trek. These are the things they are that attract hefty viewership.
As sad as it is to get cancelled, I give major kudos to Paramount+ for giving them 4 additional episodes to tie up storylines and get a proper send off.
This is so true. Network/Cable would almost never do this.
Sounds more like a write off then a send off. My loyalty is to choice, which it seems Paramount has forgotten
Its typical, a great show will get cancelled while garbage gets made over and over and over again with spin offs too usually, I’m not surprised as l was expecting it because as l said its typical for some reason most good shows get cancelled 3 or 4 series in, l cant believe it was because of cost and it had a faithful and growing audience so why ?
They could shop it around but the producers have said no for some undefined reason, oh well one more great series kucked into the gutter.
It’s obvious why… Because of The Elite. They don’t want us privy to the ways that the adversary weasels his way into our families…. Members of the elite have sold their souls and doing work for the adversary.
I would continue to watch even if I had to pay!!!!
I’m super bummed!
Well said! 100% agree.
I like the show and I’ll miss it, but I trust the writers that they’ll use those four bonus episodes to wrap things up nicely. If that happens the show doesn’t need to be picked up by another network. I get people involved would want more seasons – I just want a guaranteed proper ending at this point.
Well said. Fully agreed on all of this.
Don’t hate me for saying this, but I’m surprised it got to 4 seasons. The first season was awesome. But after that I was never sure where the story was going anymore. Does anyone remember the end of season 1?
totally agree,, I loved first season. Then the weirdly extreme feminist angle and abuse of the husband by wife and the evil mother in law was too much. That guy should have stayed on the mountain instead of coming back to thankless cheating, abusive wife and her man hating mother-handler and four daughters! Not even one male child or male adult role model? Give me a break.. hardly subtle Nonsense anti-male writing.
Wow. A show with strong feminist overtures and you call it anti-male. Proves why feminism is necessary.
Yes the show does need to be picked up by another network. You can’t really be a fan of the show as I’m sure the rest of us would like to see the show go on for another 4 seasons. The only reason Paramount gave the writers an additional 4 episodes was in hopes that people wouldn’t get so angry they’d cancel their subscription. I certainly will.
I don’t think it’s really fair to call someone “not really a fan of the show” because they are okay with a show having a proper ending rather than holding out hope for something that might not happen.
How many shows are/have been cancelled on a cliffhanger or unresolved story over the last 25+ years? Way too many to count. If I genuinely care about a show, I’d rather it get a proper send off than end unfinished or left not knowing how it ends. It’s disappointing that it’s ending after four seasons, but truthfully, whether due to the current consumption market, dwindling interest from younger audiences or the new standards set because of the strikes, a lot of shows will be lucky to get more than three seasons, let alone get renewed past the first. So anytime a show gets 3+ and/or an ending, I call it good.
Good or bad, the days of long running series with six or more seasons are fading fast, so I look for quality rather than quantity at this point.
It would have been great if it could of had at least two or three more seasons. I’m afraid that even with the four “extra” episodes it is going to feel rushed or end up being a very unsatisfied finish.
I liked the show, but it’s been so long since the last season, I’ve lost any emotional connection. Stranger Things is even worse. They should’ve been filming while the last season was airing.
I wonder why she deleted her comment.
Paramount probably didn’t like her asking for other competitors to pick up the show.
Netflix needs to snatch up Evil! It will be one of their best shows if they do so
Yes. I’ve been waiting all these months for the 4th season of Evil to stream. Paramount+ has disappointed me so much because of the change in rates and because of the Discovery cancellation.
I hope it does move. Paramount plus sucks. I canceled my subscription because I can’t even watch it on my TV. Some “known technical issue” that they have been working on Since January.
Yes. Would definitely watch this fantastic show on another network or streaming service. One of the best shows on TV. Great cast and storylines. Really surprised it’s being cancelled. Someone should pick it up.
paramount canceling so many shows, even star trek ones. probably not long until the whole thing folds or merges with another streaming service.
Why in the world would anyone want to cancel such a good series with a great storyline!? There should be at least 60 more shows with each episode dealing with the glyphs on the Vatican parchment. If Paramount is stupid enough to cancel the show, I hope and pray that Netflix is smart enough to pick up the show and carry it to it’s natural conclusion.
Ditto.. I can order Netflix if the pick it up. They might be wise enough to want additional viewer loyalty..
paramount+ will cease to exist soon. not a theory but a fact as the main company is being sold off for parts. sad that this great show went to streaming.
But I’m pretty sure of it hadn’t moved it to Paramount+ it would have been cancelled from the network. As much as I’m hating this is the last season I’m at least thankful it went to Paramount+ and for the extra eps.
I got Paramount + for Evil. While I’m glad they get 4 more episodes, I feel like they have more stories to tell.
I agree with u and I hot paramount+ for the same reason
I couldn’t believe how good this show was the first time I watched and I immediately had my wife hooked as well. Netflix seems like a perfect fit, because of the amount of people that could potentially watch. I hope they find a new home, this show is WAY too good to cancel.
We would for sure watch this on Netflix; husband keeps asking when it will be back.
Would I watch “Evil” on another network? The answer is “Oh hell yeah!” Evil was the reason I subscribed to Paramount+ and will now be the reason why I’ll drop Paramount+. All bitterness aside, I’m anxious to see the next season. Sure took long enough. Most of the other studio’s got their product done in time for release in February, did Paramount decide this show didn’t have the viewers to get it done quickly? Maybe they should have been reading the comments section in TVLine and they would have seen the overwhelming positive comments “Evil” viewers have. Maybe we can all get together and drop Paramount+ when they stop running “Evil.” Anyone want to join me??? I certainly hope so.
I’ll be dropping Paramount+ when they show the last episode of Evil!
The only reason I had Paramount was for Evil. The story line was so original and the acting was amazing! Please someone else pick it up, for evil sake?
Put it in Netflix
Ofcourse I would watch ‘evil’ on Netflix or anywhere else! I love this show and I’m really disappointed paramount isn’t continuing it… why???
We did watch Evil on another network. It was called CBS.
Then after season 1, Viacom stole it from us to make (even more) $$ hiding it behind CBS All Access paywall. arrgghh
Noooooo! :( I’ll just have to enjoy the upcoming season. I’d love for another streaming service to pick up “Evil.” I’d surely watch.
I hope that the show Evil is picked up by another service!! It is by far my favorite show! The cast is outstanding!! The premise is amazing, the writing and story lines are fresh and original! There has never been anything like it!! Please someone continue this magnificent, fun, one of a kind show!!! Please, I will follow wherever it goes!!!
I will cancel my paramount subscription when Evil is finished!
