Frasier hasn’t left the building just yet: Paramount+ has renewed the sitcom revival starring Kelsey Grammer for a second season, TVLine has learned.
“Kelsey made a triumphant return as one of the most iconic and beloved characters on television,” Paramount+’s executive vice president of programming Jeff Grossman said in a statement. “The new series introduced Frasier to a whole new generation while reminding fans of Kelsey’s truly timeless portrayal of Dr. Crane. We’re so excited to see what the creative team and superb cast serve up for Season 2.”
Grammer added a statement of his own: “Frasier is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it. I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store!”
Grammer reprises his role as psychiatrist Frasier Crane, a role he originated on Cheers and then continued on his own spinoff Frasier, which ran for 11 seasons on NBC. In the revival, Frasier has moved back to Boston to reconnect with his son Freddy, taking a job teaching at Harvard along the way. Jack Cutmore-Scott co-stars as Freddy, with Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s pal and fellow professor Alan, Toks Olagundoye as department head Olivia, Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s friend and roommate Eve and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David.
Season 1 debuted on Paramount+ in October, with guest appearances from Bebe Neuwirth as Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith and Peri Gilpin as Frasier’s former radio colleague Roz. The 10-episode freshman season wrapped up in December. (Check out our interview with Grammer about the season finale here.)
No plot details for Season 2 have been released yet, but Grammer has already voiced his support for bringing back Shelley Long as Frasier’s former Cheers flame Diane Chambers: “I would like to see Diane come back… for Frasier to be able to put something to bed, to end up with a nice thing between them.”

I enjoyed the first season and really liked the new characters of Alan and David. I’ll watch a second season.
Thank you Paramount Plus! This show really grew on me as the season went along and they really started finding their groove. Excited for whats next!
Yes. Kelsey is still great in that role, and I’m just happy to have that character back on my tv
YAY!!!! Bring back Niles and Daphne!!!! At least for ONE episode.
This frickin streaming service only renews shows I DON’T watch. Ugh! Once Evil is over, I’ll probably cancel my subscription.
Bye!
The frist season was hit or miss but seemed to find its groove by the last episode. They should find some way to make Peri Gilpin’s Roz a series regular. I know David Hyde Pierce has “moved on,” but they should see if Jane Leeve’s would return, at least for one episode to check on her son, David. Maybe bring a psychic vision with her.
Finally some good news out of Paramount+. Loved David so much, can’t wait to see more of him.
Yes! Frasier’s still in the building and Kelsey’s still got it. Can’t wait for season 2!
The show DID seem to get better as each episode progressed – although the weakest link of the cast (to me) was the character of Freddy (and to an extent – the neighbor Eve). The University/work stories were funnier than the Fraser/son conflict.
They forgot Eve had a kid for most of the season lol. I’m glad it’s coming back, maybe without Eve or less of her.
I guess I’m glad. It wasn’t as good as the original, but it was entertaining enough. I hope they add some better supporting characters.
I really hope they find a way to get Roz on as a regular.
CBS should run Season 1 during summer doldrums. Pair it with Ghosts and see what happens.
Good idea. Even if these are technically “repeats,” putting them where they can be seen like they did with first 2 episodes would be great.
Roz should come back. There was a very special relationship between Roz & Fraiser. What if Freddie and Alice became friends?
I’d love to see grown-up Alice!
Did this season actually get better? I watched the first four episodes, and it was absolutely dreadful. Not a single laugh. So I stopped.
One episode in season 1 stood out for me and that was “Freddy’s Party”. Beautifully written and directed with much witty dialogue between the lead characters. We Brits have watched Nicholas Lyndhurst grow up through series such as “Butterflies”, “Fools and Horses” and “New Tricks” and he is a bit of an institution in the UK so it is good to see him in “Frasier”. Peri Gilpin guested in the final show of season 1 and we all remarked how she hadn’t aged at all. Roll on Season 2
YAY!!!!
Good now bring back Roz and Niles for an epsiode.
Also more Freddy and less Alan
Loved the series reboot! Terrific traditional sitcom writing. Made us nostalgic for the old Frasier. We went back and binged the old show. It made us laugh out loud. Great decision to renew!
Oh, neat!
Great news! But I just wish they would up the episodes count! 10 isn’t enough! I know that 22 isn’t possible in our days! But between 13 and 18 would be great!
David was definitely the scene stealer from Season 1. More of David in Season 2 please!
I felt the series got better as it went on. Made me watch the old show, wow, it holds up and is as good as it was 20 years ago. I don’t think the new Frasier will hit the same heights as the original, but no show could, and that would be an unrealistic expectation.
Bring back Bebe Glazer!
Thrilled that there will be a season 2 and can’t wait to see more of Freddy and David!
I’d love to see Daphne, Niles, and Frasier’s old agent return. And maybe another visit from Lilith.
Yes so glad it’s coming back. And it inspired me to go back and watch the original series. Very funny.
